Jay-Z was added today to the the iHeartRadio festival lineup, an already star-studded event in La Vegas that sold out ten minutes after tickets were put on sale in July.
Jay-Z, who just released 'the Throne' with Kanye West to record-setting numbers on iTunes and a projected first week sales tally of over 500,000 copies in the U.S., will close out the first night of the festival, September 23, at the MGM Grand.
“When we conceived the iHeartRadio Music Festival we set out to break down boundaries between genres and assemble a collection of the biggest musicians in the world,” said Bob Pittman, Chairman of Media and Entertainment Platforms for Clear
Channel. “Jay-Z embodies that range; he has had a defining influence on music, and the creative influence he continues to have on other artists cannot be overstated. Adding him to the line-up is yet one more reason the festival will be a once-in-a-lifetime music event.”
Other stars playing the event include Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, The Blackeyed Peas, among others. Although tickets have sold out, iHeartRadio is giving away hundreds of trips to Vegas, as well as streaming the audio and video of the concert online.
