Man Tries To Kill Wife By Driving Into Waffle House: Cops

A Florida man tried to kill his wife by crashing his car into her workplace -- a Waffle House restaurant, Panama City's News Herald reports.

On Monday, Charles Patrick O'Bryan called the Panama City Beach breakfast joint, where his wife works as a waitress, and threatened to run his truck "through the building and kill everyone," police sources told WPTV.

Later that day, he smashed his vehicle into the eatery, according to investigators.

Danielle Gibbons, the suspect's wife, was hit by the vehicle and was taken to the hospital with what authorities described as non-life threatening injuries, News Herald notes.

A witness told the paper that the driver wielded a knife when he exited the vehicle, but that he was able to "subdue" the suspect with a broken piece of metal from the restaurant.

O'Bryan has been charged with attempted murder and felony criminal mischief.
