Jeff Bridges' self-titled album -- out today -- was produced by T-Bone Burnett, and Bridges is clearly singing within Burnett's framework.
Which is fine by us. The "Crazy Heart" actor, who sang five tracks on the soundtrack for that film, works well with a backdrop of strong country melodies. The reviews are just beginning to trickle in, but so far there are a lot of people saying, hey, this is decent.
Just like everything else Jeff Bridges does, his singing comes off naturally, unaffected by anything around him. "Everything But Love," a straightforward, sweet melody, shows that when Bridges keeps thing simple -- and relies on the strength of his voice -- he can easily convince us of his talent.
