Christine O'Donnell Walks Out Of CNN Interview When Asked About Witchcraft, Gay Marriage (VIDEO)

Christine Odonnell Interview Witchcraft

Delaware Republican Christine O'Donnell, who made an unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate last year, walks out during an interview that airs on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" on Wednesday after being asked to weigh in on the issues of witchcraft and gay marriage.

Video of the segment released by CNN shows the exchange that went down on the latter subject.

During the 2010 election season, video surfaced of O'Donnell indicating she's "dabbled into witchcraft." In the clip from years earlier she said, "I hung around people who were doing these things. I'm not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do." The Tea Party favorite explained, "One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar and I didn't know it. I mean, there was a little blood there and stuff like that. ... We went to a movie and then had a little picnic on a satanic altar."

HuffPost's Sam Stein reported at the time the remarks came to light:

O'Donnell immediately distanced herself from the quote, asking whether it was fair to hold candidates responsible for the "questionable folks" they hung out with in high school. The clarification may have been the only sane political move for O'Donnell to make. But it had the side effect of angering an already politically sensitive pagan community.

"Yes, this was 11 years ago she said that," said Reverend Selena Fox, the High Priestess & Senior Minister of the Circle Sanctuary a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting paganism and nature spirituality. "But the kinds of things she is saying now, saying 'well in high school you are with despicable characters' or some such thing, she is actually defaming Wiccans. Whether she intends to do that or not as a way to try and get herself out of this political problem she has created for herself, the fact is America really needs to be a place where you can celebrate diversity and practice your religion without getting ridiculed or defamed."

During her campaign, O'Donnell made headlines with a political ad in which she states, "I'm not a witch." Earlier this week, she said she never liked the spot and called its release her own "mistake."

When asked about her views on gay marriage in Wednesday's interview O'Donnell tells Morgan, "You're borderline being a little bit rude."

“I’m not talking about policies. I’m not running for office," she says on the program. “Ask Michele Bachmann what she thinks. Ask the candidates running for office what they think."

O'Donnell is out with a new book titled Troublemaker: Let's Do What It Takes to Make America Great Again. The former candidate signaled that she only wanted to discuss the contents of her work on CNN. HuffPost's Amanda Terkel reported earlier this week that in the introduction O'Donnell describes the book as "a political memoir slash campaign diary slash position paper slash rallying cry, with an emphasis on the slash."

Another SHOCKING headline in 3... 2... 1...

Tonight he told Kathy Ireland that he had her pinup on his wall back when he was "a man of a certain age" and bought every single SI swimsuit issue she was in. I mean you're basically telling the woman right in front of you that you used to...

Anyway, then he dragged Christine O'Donnell's still-warm-from-his-last-lashing corpse out once more to make fun of her for saying he was a creepy interviewer and asked Kathy if she agreed.

Imagine how surprised he will be to one day find out he WAS that creepy :p

How would Morgan act if all someone wanted to talk about was his hacking involvement. Im Sure his response would be less civil than hers. By the way his leftist bent is becoming more apparent.

It's his show I think that he has every right to ask her whatever questions he likes. After all she's obviously using his show to promote her novel...I mean book. Piers isn't the only host that asks the hard questions, look at Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel.

O'Donnell continues to refine her profile as a petty, thin-skinned hyper-conservative caricature. I'd tend to agree with some commentators who asked the obvious question - why the hell is she being booked on Morgan's show? I mean, other than the obvious hope that she would say or do something suitable kooky for broadcast - in which case, Morgan's bookers are freakin' geniuses. It's worth noting, however, that not everyone considers bookings simply for media appeal. When the brilliant Jon Stewart was asked why he would never consider having the late Robert Novak (post-Valerie Plame Affair) as a guest, he bluntly responded: "Because we have standards".

As much as I enjoyed watching O'Donnell yet again come off as a complete yutz, I'm probably a little more impressed that more media outlets DIDN'T take the booking - in which case, Morgan's show gave us a representative "hit" of O'Donnell and spared other outlets from the embarassment of her use of airtime.

Nice job, not-witch!

Witchraft makes about as much sense as any other religion and none of them should have any part in this government.

I'm sure that no matter what question "Lewis Prothero" asked her he was just going for entertainment because nothing informative was going to come after all this time.

What a shameful and despicable display of political cowardice! She's trying to cash in on her 15 minutes of political publicity by writing a political book about her political positions and then has the audacity to try to opt out answering poolitical questions because she's not running for office? Is she a chicken or does she honestly think millions of people will rush out to bookstores to buy her propaganda because they're just dying to know what she thinks about gay marriage?! We all knew what she thought of it going in - she's against it! Duh! She's a REPUBLICAN!!!

Chrissie, Chrissie, Chrissie...when will you ever learn? The only "news network" that asks you only what you want to answer is Fox. Going on any other channel on the planet just makes your idiocy stand out even more.

This is the new Tea Party way to be interviewed. Paul and Palin won't be interviewed by those they find unfriendly, and O'Donnell has walked off interviews before. It's immature, but appeals to the people they are trying to appeal to. Just answer the question, and the interview may have proceeded, but to run away puts a whole new focus on what you were trying to avoid. But they all will again blame the media for doing what it's supposed to do. If you don't want to answer questions, don't agree to an interview.

Don't lump Ron Paul with those two broads.

That's very funny...I was actually referring to RAND Paul.

So, what was she doing on a TV interview show if she didn't expect to be asked questions-- particularly while hawking a very politically biased book? Did she think they were just going to say "go out and buy this unqualified and disgraced ex-candidate's trash book?" Just another indication from O'Donnell that she has NO rational reason to be involved in politics, at ANY level! Like all chimeras, she danced in her spotlights, and now needs to disappear! What a MESS she is!
07:26 PM on 08/20/2011
Walking out of an interview that's part of your job (promoting your book), is kinda like going on vacation when there's important budget negotiations that you must be a part of.

Not really a good idea.
08:19 PM on 08/20/2011
I think it's highly entertaining that you're willing to elevate O'Donnell on par with actual legislators who carry the responsibility of enacting major legislation to better the nation. Of course, they don't exactly carry it WELL, but...
12:56 PM on 08/21/2011
I'm not elevating her, by any means! But bailing on your duties is a Problem. And let's not forget our Golfer-in-Chief and his Canadian bus, as well as the legislators you mention. They've walked out on their duties as well.

Actually, we're paying them to do their jobs. We're not paying Ms. O'Donnell. That's worse.

Well according to www.cbsnews.com and yahooask.com, George W. Bush took 879 vacation days during his 8 years in office. The most of any presidency. Thats an average of 109 days a year. That's 96 days more a year than the average middle class American. Mr. Obama (because of coarse that is who you are refering to with your comment) by the end of August and counting holidays will have taken 48 vacation days in 2 and a half years. Only Jimmy Carter is lower with 79 days in his 4 years as POTUS. I might also add that your Repulican congress is also on vacation. Also Bush was on vacation when Katrina struck. He view the damage via plane and then continued his vacation.
09:08 PM on 08/25/2011
Comparing Obama to Bush...

I would put them in the same category too. "Presidents that never should have been"

Put your effort into finding a genuine statesmen or condemning those that just soon wage war on ourselves as see out nation as something to respect.
06:25 PM on 09/01/2011
He was also on frequent vacation on the lead up to 9/11.
07:09 PM on 08/20/2011
I didn't think he was being rude. He was just asking questions that I think most people would want to know.

I also learned from this interview that she believes married men don't masturbate. Is she a virgin, or what?
08:20 PM on 08/20/2011
Let me answer that for her:

"I'm not gonna talk about that kinda stuff, cause that's not what I said I wanted to talk about. That's so rude, huh?"

I think Piers asked all the wrong questions. He should have asked; what is your patronum? Does you wand have a phoenix feather, and, whom are you with, Voldemort or Harry?
