Washington Post:

The 50-year-old businessman, invited to a Citibank office in Jakarta in late March, collapsed in a tiny room set aside by the U.S. bank for questioning of deadbeat debtors. He died shortly afterward — a casualty of a “harsh interrogation,” said Jakarta police spokesman Baharudin Djafar.

If they are brazen enough to engage in that kind of activity in the light of day, just imagine what they have been doing behind closed doors and in cyberspace.

Sounds like the banking industry is continuing to make war on the public, now with direct casualties.

I was harrassed for over five years by Citibank before I had to file bankruptcy. I did not owe that much and was working with a debt consolidation company. However, their daily calls... on average about three... put me into a depression... then George W changed the bankruptcy laws and Citibank attacked mine and almost a million others pay... so to get them off my back, I had to destroy my credit and am still suffering almost ten years later.... Citibank to me is an example of a company that destroys lives.... they take the stimulus money and buys a new corporate jet.... and God knows what else... they did not do anything to stop the phone calls... it took two months after I filed for them to stop... and that was after sending my letters from the lawyers to indicate I had filed bankruptcy. I will never trust Citibank for anything.

They plan to refund a portion of his citi bank visa yearly fee (after a small service fee) so it's all good.

Interrogation? Wow, sounds like Citibank has a problem, and it's more than just killing this guy. What's next? Bank-run debtors prisons?

http://www.alternet.org/food/151250/the_same_financial_firms_responsible_for_our_economic_crisis_are_driving_us_toward_a_global_food_disaster_ ... huge link to a piece focusing on the food bubble the same bankers are creating. Buying up land, creating conglomerates in every industry. It is chilling. Chilling!

and that is how it works in the artificial construct they have created to force this wealth inequity. it's happening with everything you can think of and its happening far more rapidly because they know things are going to tank and they know what resources are going to be needed and most valuable.

i'm growing my own food and fighting to the bloody end, anyone who attempts to drive me from my land.

Financial tools and instruments are being created by GS and other banksters to treat things like oil and even food (and others) as stocks for the convenience of wall street speculator parasites............

The SEC and CFTC are not enforcing regulation or oversight. I don't think the founding fathers intended to siphon wealth at the gas pump and grocery store for a bunch of middlemen that contribute nothing to society.

Are you saying Goldman Sachs did not give Pres Obama nearly 1 million dollars in campaign funds, as well as other candidates, but Obama received the highest amount, that Goldman Sachs et al do not receive preferential treatment in exchange for their leap of faith (bribe)? The insanity is you finding this acceptable. Corruption will bring a country down, it's a given. Being a dirty rotten scoundrel and fleecing the poor is the act of people who are not thinking right. They are criminally minded. That is insanity. We bow to these ruthless, relentless, irresponsible failures at leadership.

It's becoming apparent that the world is run by the banks. Political figures are mere puppets of the man behind the curtain.

The reason the economy is in a tank and there is no spending or growth is the direct result of allowing the banks unlimited authority to rule the globe.
Where are the products and innovation?
Get rid of the banks and eliminate the problem.
Just exactly how much do the banks think they are entitled to obtain for free and how many more times will they be allowed to steal.
A strong banking system is vital to the economy is a crock.

America needs a Labor Party

This is part of the case for government, whose role is to protect all people from things like this. I do business with Citibank here in the United States, and they have been fine to me. However, they must do business with me under the rule of law, which is enforced by the US Government, my state's government, and any local ordinances that apply. For the people who want to 'starve the beast' and get government so small that we 'can drown it in the bathtub,' think about this lesson. In America, I imagine most of us generally have a good opinion of Citibank because our interactions with them are predictable and we know what to expect. In Indonesia, though, Citibank seems to have a different face. Yes, its the same corporation, but there it is not subject to the same regulatory structure and rule of law. So, in Indonesia, Citibank has special rooms where collectors with whom they contract take people who owe money and torture them. Imagine how awful it would be if you fell behind on your payments and your credit card company sent over five thugs to collect who then slept on your veranda. You really want to 'drown government?' I don't. Make it better, but please don't put us outside the rule of law.
