Ed Schultz Apologizes For Rick Perry Error: 'It Was A Mistake' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 08/17/11 09:05 AM ET Updated: 10/17/11 06:12 AM ET

Ed Schultz apologized on Tuesday for playing a clip of Texas Gov. Rick Perry out of context.

On Monday, Schultz played footage of Perry seeming to refer to President Obama as a "big black cloud" over America. Schultz said this was evidence of latent racism in the Republican field. In fact, Perry was talking about the debt, not Obama. On Tuesday, Schultz acknowledged his mistake--but stressed that he thinks there is ample evidence to bolster his claim that Perry is trying to smear Obama.

"Last night we played a clip of Governor Perry talking about the debt being a 'big black cloud' over this country," he said. "We did not present the full context of those statements and we should've...no doubt about it, it was a mistake and we regret the error. On this particular statement, we should not have included it in our coverage of his overheated rhetoric. That's our mistake. The full context of all of these other statements show who he is and what he stands for."

Ed Schultz is nothing more than a balding, overweight piece of work. He "apologized"? You're kidding, right? He should be suspended for what he INTENTIONALLY did to make, yet another Republican, look like a racist. This wasn't an "error". This was an intentional editing issue and it's disgusting. This is reason #87 as to WHY I DO NOT WATCH MSNBC ANYMORE!!!

It is so easy to "apologize" after making the point you wanted to make. Schultz should be ashamed of himself. I have no doubt he made the "mistake" on purpose. Politics brings out the worst in people.

My head isn't in the sand, it is in a much darker place. Obviously you are correct. I just wish people wouldn't take some of my comments seriously. 90% of the time I am just playing to avoid the boredom of t.v..I do like Ed, from his old radio show. I have yet to see him on t.v.. His shot was obviously a set up. I get it! I enjoyed Ed's radio show, and I enjoy El Rushbo. They are simply entertainers. Glen Beck makes me gag more than laugh most of the time, but on occasion I get a kick out of his show also. I drive for a living and listen to probably too much talk radio. Your point was well taken though.

Schultz apologized for not showing the entire clip. What he didn't apologize for was his gross mis-representation by saying the "black cloud" represented President Obama when then full clip makes it very clear that the "black cloud" noted by Mr. Perry refered to the national debt. I am still waiting for an apology for the real smear.

Is it just me -- or is trying to reason with / enlighten / educate / discuss anything with these MSNBC-watching, Obama-worshipping types somewhat akin to -- as a good friend of mine used to say -- "a hog staring at a Rolex watch ?"

What they "know" and how they "feel" is oh, so much more important than actual facts and data...and then the innuendo and insults immediately follow once that intellectual argument is so quickly lost by them.

So much for REAL discourse...but I guess a true, honest and open exchange wouldn't be in keeping with the guidelines found in Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals," would it ?

(and HuffingPost immediately "reviews" any comments that mention their role model -- Peace Be Upon Him -- by name, like I just did !)

Go figure.

RIck Perry has talked about Texas breaking away from the United States of America - this kind of talk amounts to treason. He doesn't seem to love his country; he just wants to get all the money and power he needs so that his head will get bigger and bigger and maybe with luck on our side he will float away. Maybe the good old boys treat people ugly in Texas but that kind of behavior is not accepted in a civil society or in Washington, D.C. Perry is acting rough and tough and don't mess with his hairdo, he will really treat you ugly!!!

I'm sorry, i must have missed the part about Fox News doing something like this. Don't try to make yourself feel better about being a moronic leftist who watches MESSNBC by grouping a station who would've never done something like this with the idiots in the leftist media.

"I'm sorry. It was a blatant misrepresentation of the truth and I knew exactly what I was doing. I was mainly trying to prove that there's no difference between me and Sean Hannity. We both distort the truth with no regard to principle or integrity. We're both just here to lie as much as possible so long as we've brainwashed you to embrace our opinions."

Thanks Ed.

Never apologize. Always feign outrage......You're a victim. The only way to deal with these clowns is to up the ante. When they call you on something.....say something more outrageous. The bigger the lie....the better.....Works for the GOP and Fox News. Also gets unquestioned press coverage. It's all marketing and the press is a good business partner....since that seems to be the business the press in in.

The right wing has no morals.....and as time goes by....they are feeling freer to say and do anything. Time to fight fire with fire. Time to start acting like the lunatics that they are.

You must feel good saying that eh? How sad but alas, death comes to all and at some point we will know who was right and who was wrong...

Rick Perry doesn't believe in global warming is man made. He knows a scientist or 3 that agree with him. He also is a religious person who has fault of the theory of Darwin over creationism and he knows the moon is closer to earth than Florida because he can see the moon from his house which he can't do of Florida. You just got to love a flat earth society guy like Rick.

Okay Ed. After 4 days on this site I had to look and lo what do I find? Why are you begging forgiveness from this guy? I know you are better than Fox News that does not appologize for anything, but come on man, don't wimp now.
