Rosamund Pike In 'One Shot': Actress Joins Tom Cruise In Jack Reacher Film

After a read-off between (at least) three budding stars, Tom Cruise's next leading lady has been found.

Deadline reports that British actress Rosamund Pike has won the role opposite Cruise in "One Shot," the upcoming big screen adaptation of one of Lee Child's books about badass ex-Army cop Jack Reacher. The 32-year old British actress beat out Haley Atwell and Alexa Davalos, both of whom read for the part this weekend.

Pike, interestingly enough, took Davalos' place as Andromeda in the upcoming "Clash of the Titans" sequel, which is part of a busy 2011 for the actress. Already, her "Johnny English Reborn," has hit theaters, while coming soon, she plays opposite Owen Wilson and Steve Martin in the comedy, "The Big Year." Pike will also feature in "The Sea," with Ciran Hinds. She's known best for her work in "Barney's Version" and "Made in Dagenham."

The film features Cruise as Reacher, who gets taken away from his seaside vacation and sent to investigate the mysteries behind five murders in a small Indiana town; Reacher's female opposite in the film is a lawyer and the daughter of the district attorney.

I remember how Steven Speilberg held Tom Cruise responsible for the failure of "War of the Worlds", practically called the guy box office poison. Which isn't entirely fair. As badly a Tom sucked in that film the film sucked more.

This is impossible to believe. An incredible author creates an incredible character and then allows someone completely opposite in build and personality to portray him in film. Reacher is a giant of a man, both physically and mentally, and forgive me but short just cannot "act" tall no matter how talented.

Hey Hollywood!!! Was it too hard to find someone that was tall , speaks French and could have possibly have been in the Army??? Reacher in Bad Luck And Trouble breaks a guys neck with one hand,,, Cruise/Reacher couldent sell that If he had a hand grenade a crow bar and a hydralic jack!!! and this poor girl being introduced to the U.S. kicks off her career with T.C.,,,, Poor Poor Girl!

I like Tom Cruise movies. "The Last Samurai" is one of the best movies ever made. However, Tom Cruise is the opposite of Jack Reacher. Jack Reacher is 6"5 and 260lbs. This is important because not only is he the smartest guy in the room but with his size, it makes him the most dominant.
I also thought I read where they said Jack Reacher is on vacation at the start of the "One Shot" movie. Reacher doesn't take vacations. After a very structured life as an army brat and being in the army as a major for twelve years, he resigns his commission and decides to hitchhike around America and seeing new things when he gets pulled into helping local authorities solve intricate crimes. he would never be on vacation as he's on a permanent one - hitchhiking around America and living off of a small army pension.

Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, no way, Reacher is 6'-4" 250 lbs. Tom Cruise is 5'-4" and 150 lbs? Excuse the pun but that would be really reaching. What is wrong with Dwanye Johnson,"The Rock"? That would be more believable.
