The Daily Show On Bookstores And Borders Closure

WATCH: Comedian John Hodgman On The Future Of Bookstores

The Daily Show last night featured a piece on the decline of the bookstore. Author and comedian John Hodgman asked Jon Stewart, "Did you know books used to be available in what was called 'bookstores?'"

He continued with a few choice words for the bookstore trade:

"Employee picks? Thank you pudgy neck-beard counter guy for clueing me in to Philip K Dick AGAIN."

And as for author readings:

"The reality is there's nothing more depressing than seeing some pasty shut-in author bare his soul to a half-filled row of folding chairs. Believe me, I know."

Ouch.
