Comedian Adam Carolla's 5 Must-Have Apps

Adam Carolla may be a comedian, but he is serious about utilizing smartphone technology to stop people form being self-centered wankers.

"You’d put [this app] into your phone and about every 18 minutes it would just make a chime and that would remind you not to be a self-absorbed a--wipe," he told me of his proposed modesty-enforcing app. "I wouldn't need one, of course," he quickly added.

Carolla is no stranger to the smartphone platform: His free podcast "The Adam Carolla Show" is updated regularly in the iTunes store (check it out here). He is also comfortable on the good old television, where he is perhaps best known for roles on Comedy Central staples like "The Man Show" and "Crank Yankers"; he recently appeared on the DIY Network's new program "Hollywood Hi-Tech," where his podcast studio was transformed into an webcam-wired interactive wonder. That episode airs August 21 at 7:30 PM on DIY, and again on September 21 at 9:30 PM and September 25 at 7:30 PM.

I asked Adam for his 5 favorite smartphone apps, and in that great brash, sarcastic lilt to his voice, he gave me the one app he likes, and the 4 that he wish existed. This is 5 Apps With Adam Carolla (Warning: Some profanity ahead). Also check out 5 Apps With Lauren Bush and 5 Apps With They Might Be Giants' John Linnell.
