Bebe Launches, Clearly Misunderstands 'Workwear' (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 08/18/11 01:00 PM ET   Updated: 10/18/11 06:12 AM ET

What should a well-dressed woman wear to work? According to Bebe, a lot of black lace.

Racked pointed out the "New Way To Work It" collection featured on Bebe's website, which will debut in stores tomorrow.

Billed as "wear-to-work," the line is intended to amp up the average, mall-going female's work wardrobe. So what does Bebe recommend? Black lace tops, leopard-print platforms, black lace tights, shiny silver denim, fingerless black leather gloves and more black lace tops.

Helpfully organized by day, the outfits suggest what the typical Bebe working gal does on any given weekday. On Tuesday, for example, the Bebe gal is on duty as Kim Kardashian's wedding planner; on Thursday, she appears to have joined an all-girl motorcycle gang.

We don't want to even know what the Bebe working girl wear on the weekends.

Go to Bebe.com to browse the latest in office fashion... but for the sake of your job, don't take the recommendations too seriously.

Most have commented that this would be appropriate in the music or fashion industry. I work in fashion and would not be caught dead in any of this or anything bebe for that matter.

Photo 2 maybe. The rest are way too loud and highly targeted.

Huh. Definitely for the working girl, if that girl's office is the hostess stand at a night club.

I have seen worse attire in corporate America. It is really sad. Once dress down day was introduced to the workforce some people went crazy. I have seen women wear spaghetti string stops without jackets, ripped jeans, see through low plunging tops and this is worn Monday through Friday. Guys have been in wrinkled pants, ripped shirts, messy hair and tatoos showing. The company's are afraid to say anything because they could be sued. What a pity. Society is going or has gone to the trash!

Maybe the music or fashion industry but a normal business enviornment? These clothes are highly inappropriate.

Only 2 of the outfits were acceptable for work. You could get away with some pieces in some environments. But unless you're working in the fashion industry or another creative and casual industry, I don't see how that would fly.

And of course you have to be a size 0.

I'm sure Larry Flynt's assistant will be acquiring this professional wardrobe.

Judging from the wardrobe the designer assumes all women who work are twentysomething, wear size zero and are going to be partying all the time. Whoever designed these clothes has never set foot in an office.

As presented, yeah, this collection doesn't work as wear-to-work; however, if you isolate any one element from the looks here, you could work that bit into a more traditional outfit to give it a pop that won't result in a meeting with HR.
