Christine O'Donnell: Piers Morgan 'Would Not Stop Trying To Talk About Sex' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 08/18/11 11:38 AM ET Updated: 10/18/11 06:12 AM ET

During a television appearance on Thursday morning, Delaware Republican Christine O'Donnell spoke out on the heels of abruptly cutting short an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan.

In the one-on-one that aired on Wednesday night, O'Donnell walked out after being asked to discuss her views on gay marriage. Following the interview, Morgan told CNN's Anderson Cooper that the situation that unfolded "was a bit extraordinary."

O'Donnell told Morgan that he was "borderline being a little bit rude" after he asked her to weigh in on marriage equality issue.

"Well first of all I want to set the record straight, it wasn’t the question on gay marriage," explained O'Donnell during an appearance on Washington, D.C.-based station Fox 5. "He had a decidedly inappropriate line of questions leading up to that, that many people -- bloggers, are saying was just border-line creepy."

O'Donnell, who made an unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate last year, alleged, “I was not there to talk about sex -- and he would not stop trying to talk about sex."

Morgan did inquire about O'Donnell's views on sexual abstinence. During the 2010 election season, video footage from years earlier surfaced showing O'Donnell suggesting if she could, she would stop the whole country from having sex.

O'Donnell's new book, Troublemaker: Let's Do What It Takes to Make America Great Again, was released earlier this week. She told Morgan on Wednesday that she only went on his program to discuss the contents of her work. O'Donnell describes her book as "a political memoir slash campaign diary slash position paper slash rallying cry, with an emphasis on the slash."

Below, video of O'Donnell's appearance on CNN.

She had a single purpose in appearing on CNN and she achieved that. Her name is back in the news. This was the way to get a ton of press and at the same time get Faux News and their lemmings to cheer her on. Dare not hope that the "book" remains at the bottom of everyone's list and that Christine just fades away. Too bad the press won't just ignore her. And Sarah and Michelle. Their fanatic (lunatic) fringe following cannot be that large a percentage of the population. Hopefully they're just loud. Call me overoptimistic if you will. I hope that there are more intelligent people than lemmings and that they will all vote in the next election.

Why are theocrats incapable of thinking of gay people without thinking of two men going at it?

I ask the same thing all the time! How is it that every mention of homosexuality or gay marriage or rights and equality immediately becomes about specific (omg, icky!) sex acts in the minds of ultra-cons? I try to point out that most straight people participate in the same sex acts, that overturning sodomy laws did more for the heteros than anyone, that there are even plenty of people (gay or straight) who are in long-term, loving, and completely sex-less relationships.

I think they are actually reflecting their own twisted, self-loathing thoughts about and preoccupation with sex, in general.

How much did she pay for that spin doctor who came up with this "sex" talk line? It's cute, but totally ineffective for anyone with the internet.

Next time.... JUST ANSWER THE FREAKIN QUESTION!

Oh, for goodness sakes, he wasn't trying to "talk about sex", he was trying to solicit your views or positions on relevant issues. Oh, I forgot, you really don't have any and the ones you do have you are currently unwilling to share. No place in public service.

For a bunch of people with such Victorian attitudes about sex, they sure think about it a lot.

Perhaps for the first time in history, a man has been accused of sexual harrassment for asking a woman for her opinion.

I surprised the title of her book isn't "Professional Victim".

Just another "gotcha" question from the lamestream media, right? "Professional victim" seems to be the position taken by most of the right wing. They are so incapable of answering a question without their precious talking points, that anything that doesn't fall under that umbrella is "unfair" and "out of nowhere" and "bullying."

We need to start calling her “SHPJR”. This looks like a play right of Palin's political playbook. Claiming the Victim. You don’t laugh when someone is sexually harassing you….

If a person like O'Donnell wants to discuss a specific topic, she should hold a press conference. An interview should not be controlled by the person being interviewed. If interviews are designed to get information than that would be more "a waste of time" than an interview.
