Laura Ingraham, Charlie Rangel Brawl On 'O'Reilly Factor' (VIDEO)

Ingraham Rangel

Laura Ingraham and Rep. Charlie Rangel got into an intense argument on Thursday's "O'Reilly Factor."

Ingraham, guest hosting for Bill O'Reilly, brought Rangel on to discuss black unemployment and Rep. Allen West's controversial comments about the Democratic Party, which the Republican likened to a "plantation" for the modern black community. But the interview essentially got nowhere, as host and guest clashed from the first moment of the discussion.

Ingraham started by replaying West's "plantation" comments. She asked Rangel what his problem was with the word choice.

"I'm trying to figure out what words we can use and what words we can't use," she said. "What do you mean can't?" Rangel shot back. "You're confused whether or not you can use 'plantation' to a black Republican?"

From there, Ingraham and Rangel kept talking past each other. She fired question after question at him--about the War on Poverty, about liberalism, about President Obama--and he kept objecting to each question as it was asked.

"This is something entirely different from what you just asked!" Rangel said at one point. He loudly sighed at another juncture in the conversation, seemingly frustrated by Ingraham, and told her her questions "sound like mini-speeches." ("Maybe you don't get real questions from real people," she replied.)

The biggest flashpoint when Rangel waded into territory he probably should not have.

"Bill O'Reilly told me he had a secret weapon," he said. "I didn't know it was just a pretty girl that he would bring here."

"That's very condescending, sir!" Ingraham fired back. "These are serious questions."

"You have asked me 50 questions," Rangel said. "I'm begging you. I'm begging you...just ask me one question at a time."

I didn't bother reading the article because either Charlie called her something really nasty or he didn't. If he did it coudn't have been as bad an epithet as she deserves and if he didn't he damn well should have!.

Maybe we should all flood O'Reilly with emails requesting that he discontinue using Ingraham as his fill-in guest host. The woman does not know how to conduct herself in a polite, respectful manner and is lacking in basic skills as an interviewer. O'Reilly seems to be pleased about the recent dust-up she created with Charlie Rangel and is trying to make Charlie look like the bad guy (which is usually what Fox does in similiar situations) . Getting Ingraham off of Fox permanently would be an accomplishment. After all, with enough complaints to sponsors, we were able to see the demise of Glenn Beck from the basic cable networks. I don't see Ingraham being missed by too many viewers.

Wow...She's a talking points pro. Like you HAVE to practice to get that good. She's a corporatist so she can be bought. I want her on our team. We need more liberals that jump down the throats of the opponent to maintain our narrative.

I know, I know "liberals are better than that," or "what about the moral yadda yadda." Well, we as liberals more often than not have facts on our side so we should just pile on questions, accusations, and facts on these Republicans like there is no tomorrow.

Dems should nver go on Fox news it's pointless and totally not worth the hassel. Those people over their are only into disseminating their ultra right-wing propaganda. Basically Fox News is comfort food for the right wing base. Why would you want to be an enabler? I think Dems, and Liberals should boycott them. Let them talk to each other in their happy echo chamber of delusion and insanity.

So there are 360 million people in the country and 180 million voters, and of those about 2 million watch Fox News. So really why waste your time? They are thugs and crazy to boot, so I say ignore them and let em talk to each other.

She obviously hasn't transitioned from radio to teevee very well. Every Democrat who goes on these shows needs to travel with a mirror in their pocket. And when these bullying idiots repeatedly interrupt them, they should hold up the mirror to them and remind them that they obviously like hearing themselves talk instead of their guests.

Rangel doesn't understand how it works with people like Ingraham. Rather than stick to a topic, she jumps all over the place, hoping to score a bunch of points before the interviewee has processed the first question. It's exhausting and frustrating to watch this modern type of "questioning"--there's simply nothing to be learned from it, and you might as well stick up a cardboard standup of the person being interviewed because he's not allowed to develop the conversation. As soon as he makes a thoughtful remark, boom, start talking over him nonstop, peppering him with questions. Sadly, this passes for entertainment for many people.

Directions for being a right wing interviewer.

1. Ask question
2. After 5-7 words of the answer interrupt and obfuscate
3. Repeat as necessary until it's time to break for a message from our sponsor

*Ignore steps 1-3 if guest is republican or conservative. Replace steps 1-3 with variation on "Why are you so great?"

Don't forget to "refudiate" the answers of the guest.

I'm surprised that Rangel would agree to an "interview" with some one as rightwing and shrill as Laura Ingraham.
