Obama Vacation: President Plays Golf, Steps Out For Dinner With Michelle On Day 3 (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 08/21/11 10:23 PM ET   Updated: 10/21/11 06:12 AM ET

President Obama spent day three of his Martha's Vineyard vacation playing a round of golf with unidentified buddies (he also played a round on Friday with Eric Whitaker, Marvin Nicholson and Michael Brush at Vineyard Golf Club).

Later in the day, instead of hitting up Bunches of Grapes with his daughters, he stepped out to one of the Obamas' favorite haunts--Nancy's Restaurant--for dinner with Michelle.

Last year, the dynamic duo hit up Nancy's for lunch with a slew of friends, including Eric and Cheryl Whittaker, Valerie Jarrett, George and Clarice Walker, George Walker IV, Cy Walker, Ann Marchant, David Watkins and Elizabeth Alexander.

This is the second date night for the Obamas. On Saturday, the pair went to The Beach Plum restaurant for dinner.

Check out pics from Sunday's outings and date night below.

I am so happy President Obama is enjoying his vacation on Martha's Vineyard. Nancy's has the best Fried Calamari on the island. In the sauce for the Calamari there is a fresh lime flavoring. It is delicious. To alll the pundits and their comments about how can he take a vacation when the economy is in such bad shape. Common on now, President Bush would take off for a month to stay at his ranch and no one would say anything. I wish him and his family the best. Wish I was on the island myself.

Does the president have to have the secret service plan ahead on everything? If he eats at a restaurant does a Secret Service agent have to be in the back watching them prepare the food?

They keep their security procedures very hush, hush.

But as a veteran Prez watcher...here is what I think....

Everything the President touches that can be secured in advanced and therefore known in advance (by friends and enemies) is under careful surveillance.

So, even apparently casual, spur of the moment decisions are not.

Recession? What recession?

Here is the process developed over many years of voting "present" in Illinois.

1. Enjoy yourself! Who said being the leader of the greatest country had to be a chore?
2. Come up with alot of liberal policies that you don't believe in to patronize the left and get them to be quiet. Knowing, all the time, that it will never pass scrutiny on the right and you can blame the right again. Heh, heh.
3. After a fun fulled vacation in the sun and sand, propose something that you know will play well with the democrats and the media but knowing, when you propose it, that it will never pass with conservatives. This is a gambit, and you are historically a good politician.
4. No matter what happens deny any responsibility. Blame Bush. Blame the Tea Party. Blame bad luck. Blame republicans. And ask for 4 more years of the same...yeah, that should play well.

President O. takes some time off to relax on Martha's Vineyard, rents a house, takes wife to dinner. Wannabe Romney quadruples size of house in La Jolla to turn it into some kind of Mormon Wonderland.

I'll stick with President O., thanks.

How many vacation days did his predecessor take?? Maybe you should look it up?

Obama has been on vacation for two plus years now. So he has taken only one, but who's counting.

It's well studied, scientifically documented and academically well known; business leaders and all of Europe knows this: vacations and rest periods increase one's ability to perform stressful jobs with more energy and BETTER productivity!

Why anyone begrudges this man time away from arguably one of the world's most stressful jobs to rest in a place he obviously loves - while conveniently allowing the FBI entourage a president must travel with without disrupting everyday people's traffic patterns - is beyond me and amazingly selfish!

As for how "posh" MV is, have you been there? GO! Martha's Vineyard is wonderful!! It's one of the friendliest, most laid back, and, believe it or not, incredibly unassuming coastal locations I've ever vacationed in. I totally get why he goes there because I've (small town "regular" person) has vacationed there just like thousands of other "regular" people. I think the the critics commentating should check it out, it might lower their stress levels.

I so agree about rest period and productivity. In America, we do don't value "down time" and our society reflects that. Also, I live in MA and never think MV is too posh to visit!
