Tiger Woods May Add Tournaments In Order To Be Selected For 2011 U.S. Presidents Cup Team

JUPITER, Fla. -- Tiger Woods is thinking about adding another PGA Tour event to his schedule.

Woods failed to qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs that start this week in New Jersey for the top 125 players in the standings, meaning he is ineligible for tour events until October. He said on his website Monday that he might add a tournament in the Fall Series.

"Right now, I'm looking at my options," Woods said.

The Fall Series begins in Las Vegas on Sept. 29. It is followed by the Frys.com Open in San Martin, Calif., before moving to the East Coast for the final two weeks – the McGladrey Classic in St. Simons Island, Ga., and concluding with the tournament at Disney on Oct. 20-23.

Woods won Las Vegas for his first PGA Tour victory in 1996. He also won Disney that year.

He also said he wants to be part of the Presidents Cup team in Australia the week before Thanksgiving, although Woods will to have to rely on being one of two captain's picks.

"I've had some conversations with U.S. captain Fred Couples, and we'll see how it goes," Woods said. "Of course, I want to be on the team. It's always fun to play for your country, and we did pretty well two years ago in San Francisco. I'm just going to keep practicing and try to get better. It's Freddie's call, and he can make any choice he wants."

Woods is to play Aug. 31 in upstate New York, a one-day exhibition to support the charity of longtime friend Notah Begay.

Still to be decided is a full-time caddie. Woods used childhood friend Bryon Bell at the Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship, where he missed the cut for only the third time in a major.

"I haven't decided on a new caddie yet, but am definitely thinking about it a lot," Woods said. "There's a few guys I'm looking at, but it all depends on timing. At this point, I'm in no hurry to make a decision."

He said the two things he is looking for in a caddie are experience and "a person I'll have fun with."

Woods fell to No. 36 in the world Monday, his lowest ranking since Nov. 17, 1996.

Freddie better just ignore Tiger's desire to be on President Cup team. He would just be a drag.

You "pray" that Tiger finds his game? I would suggest there are more important matters to pray about, and certainly not for a person who is 100% responsible for his own downfall.

Tiger should really go back to his old swing. Make life earier on yourself bro, not harder. Play more tournament and change as a person. Tiger sucks as a person and right now sucks as a golfer. Karma is a biitch.

When you can make 75 million without winning a tournament, there has to be serious motivational issues with Mr. Woods. I don't think he really loves the game anymore, he's just going through the motions....

i disagree totally (and respectfully of course). it's simply hard to win. as time passes, in any sport or career, people get better and overtake the previous best. he did some foul things and then went thru the appropriate backlash from endorsements and public. now, he has to learn to switch his mind back to total focus on golf and try to catch back up to the others who are now "the man". lol. he's totally capable in my eyes of doing just that, and i think his love for the game are now what has waned, i think it's just the focus.

i still like watching him in golf, just like i like watching ben rothleisberger and any athletes who did wrong in their personal lives, try to make it back to the top. so what if he's a jerk outside of the game, i don't gamble on if he's a dyck at home. lol.

I'm not a big "karma" guy, but it does seem that Tiger is reaping what he sowed!

If Woods can get a win between now and then, then Couples will probably give him the nod.  If not, Woods wouldn't be worth the distraction to the team.  He may not be worth it even if he does win.  Tough call Freddie.

Tiger comes off as willing to lower himself to play one lesser tournament.
He should play every week.
Maybe he can regain what's been lost, but it's looking quite doubtful.
His swing is a mess and his putting isn't great.

The one person he SHOULD have fired is his swing coach Sean Foley, who
has not done one good thing for him.

Agree with you there.  He needs to play as much as any other rookie on the tour until he proves himself again.

Seems to me he did a LOT better when he was working with Hank Haney. Maybe he needs to go back to him.
