Foster The People VMA Nominations: Band Will Try To Make The Awards Show

WATCH: Local Band Makes Good, Nabs 2 VMA Noms

Foster the People is pretty pumped about scoring two MTV Video Music Award nominations.

Currently number two on the iTunes singles charts for "Pumped Up Kicks," the band says it's "definitely flattering" to receive the honor. They are being nominated for Best New Artist, a category Justin Beiber nabbed last year, and Best Rock Video alongside the Foo Fighters and Mumford & Sons.

"I mean it's one of those things where you grew up watching MTV and you've seen the awards show several times and then now to be on this side of it, being actually one of the artists that's been nominated--yeah, it's pretty crazy news the fact that we got two nominations, it's just like kind of mind boggling," band member Cubbie Fink said.

While the band is currently touring the UK, the L.A. natives say they want to make it to the awards show.

Singer Mark Foster says:

I hate it when you see artists that are nominated for something, especially if they win and they're not even there. You know? I feel like people just feel snubbed, you know? I don't wanna do that, I don't want us to be on Skype being like, 'Hey thanks guys for the VMA! Send it in the mail.'

Vote for your favorite bands and videos on MTV before the show on Sunday Aug. 28.
