Society is not your friend.

I guess Eventual overpopulation means nothing to people, as long as YOU'RE happy. it's all good. Eventually resources will decrease...
Like I told a friend once. You know what makes dinosaurs and humans different? Dinos didn't drive SUV's... They didnt use themselves as fuel, they also didn't burn themselves and put themselves back into the atmosphere.

Why is this news? I mean how many other women are expecting a third child in the USA, this is family news. This country is too gossipy with celebrities. Hope they have a healthy baby but I hope that for every family that is expecting.

I, naturally, wish them all the best as well. Is anyone besides me, however, troubled at the prospect of there simply being too many people in the world? With all of the issues we're facing regarding clean air, clean water, crowding, and a lack of space in general--I'm always surprised that someone would choose to have three (or more!) children. We all want to "get away" to that deserted beach, and whenever we see car commercials, we never see them driving through a crowded downtown (it's always on a cliff overlooking a clear blue ocean). On some level, we KNOW that crowded is "bad": why do we continue to continue to use up all our clean free space?

I was surprised they are having a third child as they are both solid environmentalists. Here's hoping their kid is a brilliant scientist or politician who can help solve the global warming issue.

I feel sorry for her if the rumor's true that Ben planned to leave her until they found out she was pregnant. I hope it's not true; no one needs that to deal with on top of pregnancy hormones.

It sounds like a planted blind item by Gwyneth Paltrow to me. There is no love lost between her and Garner-- Garner is not down with Gwynnioe'as private notes to Ben reminiscing about the gpood old days. Nor with Gwynnie wrangling a look at her house when Garner was away shooting a movie by setting up a play date between her kid and Violet. Jen made sure all parties knew that should never happen again. Gwynnie is a high school mean girl, heard Jen was pregnant a few weeks ago through the hollywood grapevine, and consumed with fury, fed that blind item to the gossip mongers. That's my theory.

What an assinine thing to say. How does wanting more children equate being bored with the ones you already have? Maybe they're trying for a little boy, even though I'm sure that all that they pray for is a healthy baby. When you have more than one child, the love multiplies, not divides. At least they're still together and they seem happy --- they're good parents.

Hey, maybe in your world where space, resources, water, and food are unlimited for
everyone and everybody can afford to overpopulate the scenario you painted might be nice. But mother earth is BURSTING AT THE SEAMS already trying to support the chaos we've created. NOBODY needs to have more then 2 children. They should think in terms of the condition they are leaving the Earth in for their children. Crowds, pollution, famine...but NO "THEY" think in terms of a "CUTE LITTE BABY BROTHER" FOR MY KID. Remember....."OVERPOPULATION IS EVERYBODY"S BABY">!!!!!!!!!

jennifer comes from a family of 3 daughters. So everybody: chill.

What's with "hope it's a boy" #%*!? We have 21 in our family, 20 girls and 1 boy. He's no big deal, just not a girl. I could go on and on about the benefits of single sex families and that is especially true if the "single" sex is female.

Television has become a wasteland, cotton candy mush for the brain.

You're more right than not Stevie....so it's probably best that people keep pumping out kids instead? Thats called out of the frying pan and into the fire.

My daughter has two wonderful sons, and they are thinking of having another because they want a daughter. It really isnt' sexist when people have two daughters and want a son. Boys and girls are different experiences for parents. I just got lucky and had a boy and then a girl, but even luckier since they were six years apart. I don't know how people manage every day with an infant and a three year old, but it is fun being a grandma!

Kudos to Ben and Jennifer. I remember her from "Alias" too, and loved the show. Ben's career seems to have taken a bit of a shift from starting at the top with an early mega hit in "Good Will Hunting." It seems he is back with "The Town."

Thanks for your sane and thoughtful comment!

I don't have kids yet, and I'm sure I'll love whatever I get. But...if given a choice, sure, I'd like to have a boy AND a girl. I think that's fairly typical...like you said, it's not sexist. How can it be, when you'd like both?

I've heard that being a grandma is awesome. Enjoy...!
