Abandoned Dog With Divorce Note Reportedly Found By Paul Wu In Washington (VIDEO)

When Paul Wu of Kirkland, Washington backed out of his driveway, he was shocked to find a small, big-eyed dog blocking his way, KING 5 News reported.

According to the station, Wu found that the dog's collar contained a scribbled note, possibly from a young child, stored in a bone-shaped compartment around its neck.

Portland's KGW.com says that they have a scanned copy of the note, which you can view here.

According to the note, a child's parents got a divorce. Instead of allowing the puppy, or "Mr. B" as the note reveals, to go to the pound, the child allegedly set him free instead, in the hopes that whoever found him would give him a "better chance" than the often over-crowded pounds. Whoever it was, their concerns may be valid, since the Humane Society estimates 3-4 million homeless dogs and cats are euthanized every year in the U.S.

The letter ends on a bittersweet note:

"This is my birthday money for any of his care. He is used to kids, not other dogs. He’s a good boy. I know God will take care of Mr. B – Everyone loves him…especially me. Thank you.”

According to KING 5 News, Wu took Mr. B to work with him, where he has already found a good home.

Another lonely dog, believed to have been abandoned along the side of a highway in Stockton, California, hasn't been as lucky, as all rescue attempts from animal control have failed to remove him from the side of the busy road. Dog trainer Lisa Dubois told CBS local news in Sacramento that the dog is most likely resisting rescue in case its owner returns.

Divorce doesn't mean that a dog will be abandoned, and HuffPost blogger Jill Brooke even writes that "according to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, attorneys have seen a 23 percent jump in pet custody cases."

Go to your local shelter or check out sites such as Petfinder.com and ASPCA to learn more about how you can help abandoned dogs.

Kid is a better human than his parents. Might just be he heard the parents were fighting over the dog and one of 'em threatened to get rid of it. People splitting up do those things.

Print Font: +-Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson lay in a coffin, draped in an American flag, in front of a tearful audience mourning his death in Afghanistan. Soon an old friend appeared, and like a fellow soldier on a battlefield, his loyal dog refused to leave him behind.

Tumilson’s Labrador retriever, Hawkeye, was photographed lying by Tumilson’s casket in a heart-wrenching image taken at the funeral service in Tumilson’s hometown of Rockford, Iowa, earlier this week. Hawkeye walked up to the casket at the beginning of the service and then dropped down with a heaving sigh as about 1,500 mourners witnessed a dog accompanying his master until the end, reported CBS. ........

i don't know. Could be an older kid...14 or so. Just glad the dog is ok. I am living with 6 rescued cats at the moment. no, it's not easy...expensive and time consuming. But we could not leave them to die. Some people are just monsters.

Too too many dogs thanks to puppy millers, backyard breeders, pet stores and the Amish. I would guess more than 3 to 4 million are euthanized.

I am glad the dog is fine.

yes, maybe it's the handwriting of an adult. maybe someone who got evicted from his/her home and has to move to a no-pets-allowed apartment. Plenty of these cases now.

You are a lucky dog, Mr. B.

PETS are not disposable people--- This is not a freaking option!!

If you cannot provide a loving, FOREVER home for your pets, then PUH-LEEEEEZE do not ever get them to begin with!!

because someone's circumstances can't change? do you think this family thought, we'll get the dog, but if we get divorced you get the mutt?
07:39 PM on 08/24/2011
Regardless if circumstances change or not, now in days there are many options. I treat my pets as if they were my children. 2010 was the year I had no job, bills were far over my head, rent, car, food, etc but you know what? I never once considered leaving my pets in a shelter or abandoning them on the streets. They learned to eat cheap pet food and I lived out of dollar food. My parents were barely making, they lost there home and still manage to keep our dog. I was hard for me living on my own but I made it out from my crisis and I still have my awesome kids Simba and Bagira.

The previous tenants for the apartment I live in abandoned the most gorgeous and loving Siamese cat when they left. After she kept showing up at our back door, we finally learned her story from our neighbors and landlady. My husband and I have been providing this lovely lady with food and a refuge from outside since.

So do we...
02:31 PM on 08/24/2011
Additionally, I have seen too many sad examples of parents trying to fake a child's writing by doing their assignments for them. They always make an extra effort to make the lowercase "y's" rough. A child who could make such a nice, curly "o" could easily make a lowercase "y..."

Hands-down, done by an adult.
