On August 24, Steve Jobs suddenly announced that he will step down from his role as Apple CEO.

"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come," Jobs wrote in a letter to the Apple Board of Directors, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Jobs will now serve as chairman of the board, and Tim Cook will fill the role of CEO.

Steve Jobs has been the iconic face of Apple for many years. Take a look at our slideshow (below) of his most memorable moments. For more details about Jobs's resignation, click here.

Steve Jobs is one of the best role models of "Leadership is Aesthetics, Story Telling is Leadership", a philosophy that can be traced back to Plato and Russell Ackoff. Steve's
life and art is one, true, good and beautiful. He has also proven that work can be fun; art can be fun.
I will never forget his commencement speech at Stanford University, a classic.
Now how we tell the Steve Jobs story -- A is for Apple and Z is for Zen?

Watching the video on the first iPod launch, it's crazy how far it's come in 10 years. Even in six years, given that the iPod Touch came out around the iPhone launch and ended the click-wheel idea. Jobs wasn't afraid to deprecate his own products to push something better.

So terribly sorry. It just goes to show, if you get the wrong disease, all the money in the world cannot cure you. So sad to happen to someone who has made such a positive difference in the world.

Who is more important to the US economy; Jobs or Obama?
08:07 AM on 08/25/2011
As Obama said, we can do both. This is America. (You voted for W twice, TWICE!, didn't you.)

It's funny going back and watching these old videos. 233mhz G3 processor in the iMac will blow you away! (also, 0.5MB backside cache)

This isn't really anything new.

Everyone knew it was coming. Apple has been grooming Tim Cook for the job for sometime now.

Best Wishes to Steve. He was an amazing leader for the company - now the most valuable in the world.

And remember, Pixar wouldn't be around today if it wasn't for Steve Jobs either/

Right. Because before Obama became president, he was the one secretly working for Goldman Sachs and Lehman Bros. - selling everyone toxic assets, chopping up mortgages that were worth nothing, and then selling them to investors as AAA rated investments, thereby helping cause the economic crisis. Yep. All Obama's fault.

OMG! Look at the difference between him in 2005 and him today. Yes, the 1984 ad was pure genius. Jobs will be sorely missed. When he and Bill Gates are gone, I fear there will be no one who can replace them.

The 1984 ad was genius. Not even a glimpse of what Macintosh was, but everyone in that auditorium wanted it.

Absolutely. It's still the most amazing ad I've ever seen. As you said, no pictures or information even about the Mac. And yet, you just knew that the Mac was going to be something special, something completely new and important. Unbelievable.

The only thing Apple I have is iTunes, but I certainly admire everything Steve Jobs has accomplished. I hope Steve's health improves, and that he turns to God for guidance (if he has not done so already), May God be with him.
