Dick Cheney On Waterboarding: 'No Regrets' (VIDEO)

AP/The Huffington Post   First Posted: 08/25/11 09:37 AM ET Updated: 10/25/11 06:12 AM ET

(AP/The Huffington Post) WASHINGTON -- Former Vice President Dick Cheney says he has "no regrets" about the harsh interrogation policies the Bush administration pursued in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.

The often controversial Cheney also says "I don't know why" former President George W. Bush should feel betrayed by insider information he reveals in his new memoir.

Asked in an NBC interview if he still embraces waterboarding, Cheney says, "I would strongly support using it again if circumstances arose where we had a high-value detainee and that was the only way we could get him to talk."

The new book will be published next week by Simon & Shuster. Cheney was a lightning-rod for criticism during Bush's presidency, accused by opponents of often advocating a belligerent U.S. stance in world affairs.

Below, a clip of Cheney discussing the contents of his book.

Not surprised he has no regret because in order for one to have regret one must have a heart and conscious first and old goat has neither.

I have regrets, not the least of which is his existence in the political framework of our American history

I have no intention of buying this book of fecal matter, but I am going to borrow a copy from a Republican. When I get it home, I'll crack it open, put a rag in the opening, and then pour water in it.

I have no intention of buying that book either. That's why I wrote a different Dick Cheney Autobiography----a humor book---for people like us. Check out Amazon.com-->"I'm Right and You're Dumb! The Unauthorized Autobiography of Dick Cheney."

Good luck with the book, and If Cheney invites you to be his guest of some pheasant shooting, well, . . . you know what to say.

Tricky Dick Cheney is right about my head exploding. My head explodes every time I think that this guy confesses to crimes against humanity/war crimes multiple times, most recently in his memoir, and hasn't been arrested. Why isn't the Justice Department all over this guy. Where is the indictment from the war crimes tribunal in the Haig. It's time for "Cheeney" as Chris Matthews calls him, to do a "perp walk."

One fact Cheney cannot escape - Bush and Cheney lost the war to Al Qaeda and Bin Laden. Bin Laden's goal was to have the 9/11 event draw the USA into expensive wars and tank our economy. Mission Accomplished.

Exactly. They allowed the greatest attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor, then failed to catch the culprits. Bush hid like a little chicken all that day, and Cheney skulked in his bunker while you and me were left to the mercy of further attacks. Not exactly Churchill during the Blitz.

Cheney is the epitome of e-vil in a human being. If we don't realize that, we'll never understand how easy it was for him to do the dastardly deeds he has done over the years. This man can't take "no" for an answer. He'll just do it himself and you better not be in his way. He is not used to following orders given by others either. He's the man who issues orders, not take them.

I always felt that Cheney was president and that Bush was his marionette on a string. Cheney would pull those strings and Bush would dance around like crazy, grinning all the way. He would say stupid things and didn't know which way to go without Cheney somewhere near to guide him. I always thought Bush was so funny and he kept me in stitches until I started reading about how our rights were being taken away from us right in front of our faces. That's what got me into politics at that time.

Cheney has a story to tell for sure but you can bet your life on it that he is "no way" telling it all. If he were to tell the "whole truth and nothing but the truth", worlds would collide. I don't think we could stand the repercussions of all that this man knows and cannot reveal.

This man has a cold heart and an iron hand.

and he also saved lives because waterboarded got the bad guys to talk.

From the CIA officer that waterboarded Zubaydah:

"the technique broke Zubaydah in less than 35 seconds."

"The next day, he told his interrogator that Allah had visited him in his cell during the night and told him to cooperate,"

"From that day on, he answered every question,"

Those are quotes from the CIA agent that used waterboarding successfully. And here's your link from ABC:

Now; go say thank you to Cheney for keeping you safe.

How ironically appropriate that Cheney, currently, actually roams the Earth without the benefit of a functional human heart. One has to wonder if he actually sees his image when he looks into a mirror.

I can't talk politics in my home. My husband is much more liberal than I am and he thinks talking badly about the GOP is just "lowering yourself to their level". He hates MSNBC and thinks while they are more truthful they are not far from being as hateful as Fox. But when we saw Cheney on TV yesterday I said "There will come an inevitable day for that man and I will pop the Bubbly and cheer." To my surprise he said "I'll join you!"

That man saved many lives; I'm sure he'd just rather you and your husband say thank you.

Nice try and big fail. But then from you avatar I see you pall around with someone who palls around with terrorists. McCain, who was actually tortured said it does not work, the CIA agrees and your link is to someone's opinion. That man Cheney did not save any lives - he took tens of thousands of them with his fake war that he profiteered from. And that man Cheney avoided defending our nation during Vietnam, a war he supported.
And Bush and Cheney lost the war. The 9/11 goal of Bin Laden and Al Qaeda was to draw the US into wars and tank our economy. Mission accomplished.
P.S. my husband has no respect for your type so keep your weak link. He can't even be bothered to debate you right wingers because he thinks you are so clueless and self centered so why bother? I think he is one to something. I just wasted time posting to a waste of space.
