New Perfume Clinically Proven To Attract Men (VIDEO)

Coco Chanel is said to have quipped, "A woman should wear perfume wherever she wants to be kissed." With this new perfume, a woman can also instruct men how to flirt.

Brought to us by the "Early" Show, Eau Flirt claims to be "clinically proven" to make men flirt back with its wearer. The product's clever advertising alleges that the fragrance will "cast a spell without a word."

Eau Flirt promises to attract men by using scientifically proven key scents. The $23 billion-a-year perfume industry hasn't used such science too often before, but Eau Flirt is challenging this status quo by trying special scents in clinical studies to lure men in.

According to the Boston Globe, Eau Flirt was developed by Harvard grad Shaan Hathiramani through a series of focus groups and blind smell tastes. The scents used, pumpkin and lavender, released "strong positive scent associations" among the male testers. Sounds promising... right?

Although there's no scientific evidence as of yet, "smell tests" conducted by CBS showed that the unique perfume came out victorious when put up against Chanel's legendary No. 5.

So what do you think -- breakthrough science or clever advertising?

I think most men agree, the most seductive scent of all is fresh baked bread.

I had heard men are wildly attracted to the scent of cinnamon. Should I stop stuffing cinnamon rolls into my bra?

Of course it compared favorably to Chanel No. 5. All #5 has going for it is its name, otherwise it's just a stuffy bottle of aldehydes that reminds you of your grand-aunt.

Chanel # 5 stinks on me but smells divine on my cousin--on her it smells like a field of fresh flowers.

Parfum is personal, it heightens intimacy and if it works with your body chemistry, whatever your fragrance, it will attract others to you ... men and women alike. However, if the chemistry is not right ... try another scent. Channel No. 5 is one of the few parfums I wear it is a head turner... I've worn it for over 30 years ... Love it, Love it... Strangely, with the exception of Prada, my parfums are all French. Not sure how that happen.

Coco Chanel is one of my main fragrances. I keep the cologne, perfume, and body cream. $$$ Not all that new, as I've favored it quite awhile, even though my signature fragrance is Paloma Picasso. I have quite a collection of "NICE" fragrances, thanks to my significant other who loves to shower me with new ones, and keep me in the ones that I favor.

My late sister-n-law favored Coco Channel and it smelled divine on her ... on me, it was a train wreck. Chanel No. 5 is the only Chanel fragrances I can wear successfully ...

Just because the like the scent, doesn't mean they'll like talking to the person wearing it.

I've found that smelling like a porterhouse steak works wonders with me and my BF. When he starts to smell like a baked potato, watch out! :)

This is rediculous, if a woman is attractive she need not wear some perfume to get me interested. On the other hand if she's a dog, no perfume in the world will attract me to her. Just another gimmick to sell perfume.

The truth is, women wear perfume for themselves, and hope their mate likes it too.

It's probably an advertizing gimmick, but humans are attracted to things that smell good to them and put off by things that don't. Our olfactory sense is really powerful. Having said that, the scent of someone who is just clean and doesn't have any unpleasant odors based of what they eat, etc. is just fine. For instance, most people in Japan think that most westerners have a very unpleasant odor because of our diets- a bit of perfume might help there.

I don't need perfume, or skin(cleavage), just a nice smile would suffice.

"So what do you think -- breakthrough science or clever advertising?"

Clever advertising. The same perfume does not smell the same way on two different people. Also, wearing something which makes you happy, be it perfume, shoes, a favorite dress, etc. makes you more confident, and that's really what gets people to flirt back.

I'd say clever advertising. You're right, body chemistry plays a part in how it smells.
02:23 PM on 08/25/2011
I believe it. I've worn a lot of different perfumes, but there were two in particular that guys always commented on - Sung and Light Blue.

Ditto. Sung didn't work for me but whenever I wear White Linen (you have to tread very lightly with it), men lose their minds. Some people just have certain scents that work for them and that's one of mine.
08:02 PM on 08/27/2011
My aunt (who is young and hip) wore White Linen and I loved it. It's interesting how some perfumes smell so great in the bottle, but smell so differently when on people.

I used to wear Tea Rose ALL the time - when I was about 14 (I wore perfume early to compensate for the fact that I didn't have a single curve on my body). I'm sure you've heard of it. Absolutely exquisite!

Chanel No. 5 was never intended to smell flirty or sexy, just dressed-up.
