Nicki Minaj VMAs 2011 PHOTOS: Girlfriend Wears An Entire Toys 'R Us

Not to be outdone by Beyonce's baby bump news, Nicki Minaj took over the MTV VMAs red carpet wearing, well, we're having trouble describing the outfit.

Let's put it this way: Nicki went to a Toys 'R Us, gathered up all the brightly colored toys she could find, affixed them to her body and then topped off the look with hair and jewelry inspired by a variety of tasty desserts.

The outfit seriously made no sense. In my opinion she looked like a clown. I guess she tried to compete with gaga. I guess gagas weird style fits her(gaga) but no nicki just no.She should go back to her old style this is just ridiculous. She really did fail with this outfit.

I know I'll have naysayers but I'm not a fan of most of her songs. I did like her in My Chick Bad with Ludacris, though. The Freddy Kruger claws were rockin!

Wow, I am so glad my comment sparked so much interest. I think Elvis had some talent but he stole his sound and his move from the black music movement. I have no idea who the woman is in the picture but I think she looks cool and funky. I did separate artists from entertainers in my comment. I recognize the difference. For me an artist of any stripe has the ability to engage you on many levels and people like Lady Gaga, Madonna, Metallica, Michael Jackson, and others do that. They take you on a journey of the 5 senses, I'm sure that meat dress was spelling pretty nasty after awhile, instead of just getting up and singing pretty, Entertainers sing or wear goofy outfits or somehow make themselves recognizable simply for entertainment and self promotion purposes but lack the breadth and depth to be considered real artists.

She is clearly seeking attention and trying to compete with Lady Gaga, but she fails completely. I guess she is getting the attention she sought but her 15 minutes will be up sooner rather than later. She is so annoying and I'm tired of seeing her....get lost already. And Nicki whoever definitely can't compete with Lady Gaga in the talent dept (yes, Lady Gaga has real talent unlike some of these yahoos!)

i'd say nicki minaj owes more of her fashion inspiration to erykah badu than gaga. and erykah was before gaga.

both gaga and minaj are talented each in her own way.

Erykah Badu? Are you serious? Erykah Badu is more Boho eccentric......this mess Nicki is trying is no where near being Erykah Badu inspired, it's just bizarre and ugly and it screams of trying way too hard! I'm not a fan...but I shouldn't knock her hustle.....but I still think it's atrocious and she's trying way too hard!
