UK Riots Attempted Police Murder Suspect Arrested

LONDON — British police on Sunday charged a man suspected of participating in a hit-and-run attack that seriously injured two police officers during the height of the riots earlier this month.

Jah-Kiel McDermott, 28, was charged with attempted grievous bodily harm, police said. McDermott faces a court appearance in London on Monday.

The police officers sustained serious injuries when a car was driven directly at them. Both are now recovering at home.

The incident happened in northeast London at 1 a.m. on Aug. 8, the second night of rioting and looting that hit London and other British cities in the worst urban violence in several decades.

U.K. police have so far arrested more than 3,000 people suspected of crimes during the four nights of rioting.

They deserve the same justice as everyone else. But they are also government officers who need to be kept safe from harm and respected just like everyone else too

You seem to be suffering from a severe case of retardation. Violence by the police against innocents is isolated, and you seem to be talking about cops in the U.S. ; this for the record happened in Great Britain. The cops who were ran down have no prior record of assaulting innocents and therefore didn't "have it coming" as you seem to be implying, but were rather attacked while protecting others' property.

Attacking a police officer who is doing his or her job does not even out the tabs for those who beat people to death across the Atlantic, regardless of what you may think.

But hey, why don't you do this...walk up to a beat cop in your neighborhood and tell them what you just told us. I would love to read about you getting "statisticized".
