The Huffington Post     First Posted: 08/29/11 07:03 PM ET   Updated: 10/29/11 06:12 AM ET

Dick Cheney's new memoir, which officially hits bookstores August 30, reveals new details about the inner workings of the Bush administration and Cheney's life as vice president.

In an interview with NBC's Jamie Gangel, Cheney says "There are gonna be heads exploding all over Washington" when the book comes out. A slideshow of some of the biggest revelations from Cheney's book, his interviews, and the media coverage surrounding it, is below.

On Waterboarding: 'No Regrets'
1 of 23
In his new book, former Vice President Dick Cheney said he has "no regrets" about waterboarding detainees to get answers in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

Cheney and others in the Bush administration have been criticized for supporting the use of the harsh interrogation technique that involves repeatedly pouring water over a detainee's face to create the sensation of drowning.

During an interview with NBC about the memoir, Cheney said, "I would strongly support using it again if circumstances arose where we had a high-value detainee and that was the only way we could get him to talk."

Everyone here says Dick is a liar, OK, what did he lie about? Give me one instance so I can check into it.

I am still waiting for someone to prove Cheney a liar, when he documented two examples of information received from water boarding that avoided two planned attacks.

I applaud the Vice-President's decisive contributions to American society outlined in his book. Perhaps America should honor him by carving a profile on Mt. Rushmore.

I'd recommend a "profile" of his gluteus maxiumus as it would be a lot more attractive than his face.

The Vice’s views on 9/11, Iraq, torture and the future seems a worthy contribution to many a future church rummage sale. That is, until we need to be reminded what we never want to become. http://youtu.be/uaUXgbFumvM

To say that these so called revelations were neither shocking or significant. They add very little to telling the truth about the Bush administration and are, frankly, boring. You wasted a slide show.

In search of the 4th Estate

It's not the first question that is the problem about journalists.

It's the follow-up question. Journalists don't challenge politicians. They allow a pol to state obvious lies without any proof and refuse to be prepared when the pols make outrageous accusations.

Journalists are too afraid to upset the pol for fear they may not come back to their station/network. If a pol is intelligently and qualitatively interviewed in an objective "I'm not your buddy, I'm here to inform the American public" in an objective, forceful way then we may have more respect for the 4th estate.

As it is, it's an extension of the political institution.

I agree with this.

Dick Cheyney is the single most reprehensible politician ever...in my opinion. While I disagree with the actions of many, this incorrigible, malicious, dishonest and conniving scoundrel shamed his office and in the opinion of many, is an indictable war criminal for both his sanctioning of waterboarding and his role in the invasion of Iraq under false premises. He was widely despised and feared by many of his associates. Now you know why. It's a travesty that the media feels obligated to publicize his book when they should be exposing him.

Absolutely wrong, 50% of the country, maybe more, disagree with you. we will find out in 2012 when another (brutal LOL) Republican becomes President.

Anti-social sociopaths are incapable of having "no regrets". Every single question he should be asked now, he should have been interrogated on years ago. Preferably by water boarding, since he and W don't think it's so bad.
