Donald Trump Buys 10-Year-Old A New Bike After His Was Stolen

First Posted: 08/29/11 12:45 PM ET Updated: 10/29/11 06:12 AM ET

Sometimes, one act of kindness can go a long way. And for 10-year-old Culley Larson, it has.

After his BMX bike was stolen, Larson posted a video on YouTube, hoping the thief would see how sad he was and return it. That seemed far-fetched, but the actual response was an even bigger gesture. Donald Trump saw the video on Fox & Friends and answered the boy's wish. Trump tells Fox:

"When he prays for his bike, we have to come thru."

The beauty part: Trump wasn't the only one whose heart broke for this boy. Larson says about 10 more people have donated their bikes in response to his video. Now, he plans to give them to other children whose bikes have been stolen.

And, in true Trump form, The Donald insists on buying Larson a bike that's even better than the one he had. In this case, we say: Donald, you're hired.

I commend Mr Trump for his thoughtfulness. But I do have to ask how the media was told of this. If the child's family released it, no problem. If Mr Trump's PR people did then it is self-serving generosity. Giving should be done humbly and without fanfare.

What a super nice thing for Trump to do for such a nice young man; Culley Larson. Let's not forget what a wonderful thing it was for this young man to be recognized on FOX NEWS. This kid prayed about the bike and he asked God to help someone do the right thing. Who are we to judge Trump? Maybe God used Trump to answer Culley's prayers. A great thing you did for this kid Trump....Kudos to you!!!

I suppose you've had your picture on the front page of the local newspaper giving to the poor at Christmas time.

It didn't have to be a wealthy person ... anyone who isn't living in poverty could have done the same thing. You do not have to be wealthy to be charitable.

Matthew 6:1-4 ESV
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

You realize this guy is a billionaire and that almost nothing he does is secret.... I suppose you'd rather the kid not have a bike then?

No, but Donald could have simply sent the kid a new bike, signed his name on a card and felt good about it. The kid could have done the interview giving credit to Donald Trump - but Donald would have come across much better by not being IN the interview. But hey, Donald did a very nice thing either way. Adding a some cool gear with it would be even better. Good job Donald.

I know how that little boy feels, I am a grandparent raising my 4 grandsons and we saved months to buy three of them new bikes, with in one week they were gone, cut through a chain and lock. They are sad, so are we, no more new bikes here.

I know how you feel. My parents bought us brand new 10-speeds when they were all the rage in the mid seventies. That was a lot of money then. Someone climbed over an 8 foot fence and stole mine. It was ironic though. My bike was the most used compared to the other three bikes.

Awww come on Donald your not "that" nice! I mean why wouldn't he just purchase the kid a bike? Why does he have to get the media involved. I mean jeezzzzz. Hey at least the kid got some new bikes. It's good that he is donating some of them. That's so stellar!

Right on Donald, my car is about done and I can't afford to fix it.
I could use a job too, I use to make gaming tokens.

He should have done this anomalously. Now he just looks like he is looking for a pat on the back. I'm glad that the kid got a bike though. To thieves everywhere,,,what gives you the right to just take what you want? Get your lazy butt out there and work for what you want or do without! Karma will be around to get you.

Always about money. If it was truly an act of kindness, he wouldn't be on FOX creating free advertising for himself and FOX. He would have called a local bicycle dealer and made the arrangements and then called the boy and said go pick it out. But no, greed rules the day. He is going to parlay a few 100 dollars into millions in free advertising for himself and FOX. While I applaud the boy getting a bike I detest the fact that both FOX and Trump took financial advantage of him. At this point they at least owe him a cut of the advertising.

Take that negitive and hateful energy and put it into something positive. I feel bad for you going through these resentful feelings.

Like your comment addressed anything I said. It is a negative why, because I do not embrase greed? It is a negative because what I said is true? Or, it is a negative because you see nothing wrong with greed, any time or any place or any how you can grab it!

Donald had his operatives track down this kid's birth certificate before he gave him a new bike.

Poor kid. First his bike is stolen, then to make it worse he had to sit there with Steve Doooocey.

Very nice of Donald. It would have been better if he did it and did not tell the world or fox news.
Now, if he and that 20% of tax payors, that are getting even richer by the day, would pay their fair share of taxes, put the IRS code back to rates before "Trickledown Reagan", pay corporate taxes, and plug all the tax loopholes that they have bought, then we might think of them contributing to the common good of the country. The Democrats are just as bad. Let's go with "none of the above", have congress meet for three months a year, limit them to a defense department and give back all the departments to the states.
