The Flaming Lips' 6-Hour Song (VIDEO)

Flaming Lips Six Hour Song

The Huffington Post   Mallika Rao First Posted: 08/29/11 06:45 PM ET Updated: 10/29/11 06:12 AM ET

The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne tweeted today that he and the band are working on a six-hour long song, for which he uploaded some hazy Twitvids (this after news of collaborations with Nick Cave and possibly Death Cab For Cutie). Six hours is exactly as much time as it takes a cop to book a DUI suspect, or for your television set to try and kill you, according to science. We thank the Flaming Lips for a much better option.

I like the Music the Flaming lips put out there but I've always thought Wayne Coyne was kind of a d l c k for trashing Arcade Fire in rolling stone. still a good group though.

They used to be clever/edgy - now they're just trying too hard to be "unique".

I can't listen to these little clips much less anything that sounds that bad for 6 hours.

Please, no! 6 minutes of their "music" is too long & 6 hours would verify as torture in several countries.

The Flaming Lips are BORING! The prog bands of the 1970s (Jethro Tull, Yes, ELP, Pink Floyd, Genesis and Rush) are original. The Flaming Lips are nothing but neo-Grateful Dead G**damn HIPPIES. I cannot sit through any of their tunes nor albums without nodding off. At least with the six aforementioned bands were originators andnot playing the same mindless beats for hours. The Lips also ripped off many bands with staging (Jethro Tull took to the stage in bunny suits, space suits, pirate suits before Wayne Coyne and his hippie freaks did it).
