From The Daily Green:

Whether you're looking for organic dog toys, recycled beds or other natural pet products, you'll find great ideas here.

Throw the earth a bone and reduce your dog's carbon paw print with these organic and natural dog products. Doug Mazeffa, research director at Greenopia.com, rates products based on safety and sustainability. When shopping for pets, Mazeffa recommends buying items made out of post-consumer recycled materials that don't have as large of an impact as items that rely on virgin material production.

For pet toys, he suggests looking for plastics that are BPA-free, items that do not contain any PVC or hazardous stains/dyes and are made from natural rubber or wood. These green goods will give your dog something to wag his tail about.

Thanks to share this great information I also trust in prescription food. Prescription diets are better than those sold in grocery stores. Prescription diet recommended by their veterinarian is absolutely necessary to feed, and/or whether there are any other dietary options available for their pets. It is first important to recognize that if there were any one diet that was a solution.

It is apparent that there are many people who are becoming more and more environmentally conscious and it is also apparent that there are many people who don't care one bit about it. I lean on the edge of it. Yes in an ideal world all of our products would be environmentally safe and wouldn't hurt a fly but that costs a lot of time and money in order to get all products like that and to be honest we don't have that time and especially money. There are plenty of sites that carry good products but might their products might not be environmentally friendly. For instance www.jakesdoghouse.com . For me I think that it comes down to the owners. Owners who have good recycling trends and know how to dispose of the product will really help.

If you really want to be 'green' euthanize Fido. Feeding an maintining 72 million dogs and 82 million cats in this country is diverting precious resources. 154 million pets in a country of 308 million people. That's a 1:2 ratio.

Our staff is mainly research types, their efforts are utilized to determine the validity of various nutrients ability to improve the health of our beloved dogs. The blending of popular human causes with the pet market is a fairly successful method of expanding the amount of money people are willing to spend on their dogs and cats. Our staff has a front row seat when a new trend is marketed to family pet, we see the studies attempting to fabricate demand among pet owners for products their not seeking. The greening of pet products is to early we are still attempting to determine how to supplement their diets to prevent heart disease and whether their health insurance covers bypass surgery.

This is absurd. We have far too many dogs and not enough responsible dog owners.

As a responsible dog companion, I look for safe alternatives as well as recyclable materials when possible. I pay extra for doggie bags, for instance, that breakdown when I could buy the cheaper plastic bags. I am very careful of the food and treats my dog ingests and the toys he comes into contact with. He's a dog. He's going to put his nose in places that I can't always control. What I can control is what comes from my hands.

All of my friends with dogs are the same way. Now, granted, we have a bit of discretionary income but we aren't the only ones.
