Report: Gemma Ward To Star In 'The Great Gatsby'; Celeb To Have 'Significant' Part In 'Gatsby' Adaptation

F. Scott Fitzgerald's iconic American story, "The Great Gatsby," has few--but extraordinarily memorable--characters.

While all the stars are accounted for and filming is slotted to begin next week, director Baz Luhrmann may has a surprise cast member up his sleeve.

Sydney's Herald Sun reports that actress/model Gemma Ward will have a "significant" part in the highly-anticipated screen adaptation.

Now English majors everywhere can continue to be psyched for the flick and rack their brains about which part the beauty could play.

What significant part? There's only the scene when Tom takes Nick to Mrytle's place in the city. Is that the significant role that Gemma Ward is to have? Playing Myrtle's sister while they're at the apartment?

I mean, in my estimation, if she isn't playing Daisy or Jordan or Myrtle, then Gemma Ward really doesn't have a "significant part" in Gatsby.

Carey Mulligan is going to play Daisy. The two other significant female roles are the tennis player Jordan Baker and Myrtle, who is Tom's married mistress, but these parts have already been cast. That leaves Myrtle's sister, who is a free spirited 20s flapper. That's the role Gemma Ward will most likely play.

well she's an Aussie and it is an all Aussie production. With the Exception of Leo and Tobey.
