Skechers Teams Up With McDonald's For Happy Meal Promo

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 08/29/2011 2:18 pm Updated: 10/29/2011 5:12 am

Skechers garnered hype earlier this year when it released a sexy ShapeUps ad starring Kim Kardashian and her famous derriere.

Now the sneaker brand is focusing on a younger customer, with its Twinkle Toes line. The light-up kicks allow the pre-school set to get in on the recent trend of illuminated garb (and we might add, at roughly $49.99, they're much more affordable than some of their adult counterparts).

Today, Women's Wear Daily reports that McDonald's Happy Meal customers will be treated to miniature clip-on Twinkle Toes sneaks at locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, an offer lasting for the next few weeks.

Skechers president Michael Greenberg told WWD, “Our [children's] footwear is designed as toys for your feet, and now with miniatures of our Twinkle Toes sneaks, they literally are."

That's how we think of our shoe collection too! Also, in our perfect world, chicken McNuggets would come with tiny Jimmy Choos.

OK, the Sketcher's Toy is so obviously a product placement. It's an ADVERTISEMENT, not a TOY. Yes, Movie Tie-In toys are also product placements, but at least they TRY to make them in to toys. These Sketcher Key Chain things ... well, nobody even TRIED to make these fun. This is one of the LAMEST Happy Meal Toys ever. Question: How much, per toy, does Sketcher pay McDonald's to foist it's ADS on unsuspecting little girls?

Well this is good news. I certainly wouldn't want an unfashionable Happy Meal.
(Please note sarcasm. Please.)

That's laughable. The toy in the new Happy Meals are miniature running shoes that are replicas of shoes to help a person get in shape, when the item they're in is known to cause obesity? Who came up with this ad campaign?

$49.99 for kid shoes being called "affordable"?  Not in "the new normal"...
