Bernie Williams, a key member of the New York Yankees dynasty in the 1990s, will be a part of the 2012 class of the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame, Major League Baseball announced Monday.

The Puerto Rican five-time All-Star, who played with the Yankees from 1991 through 2006, will be announced as an inductee when the class is announced Sept. 1 at Major League Baseball's headquarters in New York.

Williams was a career .287 hitter, slugged 287 home runs and 1,257 runs batted in. He also scored a career 1,366 runs, snagged four Gold Gloves in center field and won the 1998 batting title with a .339 average.

He did his best work in the postseason. The Most Valuable Player in the 1996 American League Championship series against the Baltimore Orioles, Williams has 22 career playoff home runs, 80 RBIs and a .371 on-base percentage in 121 career postseason games.
