David Arquette On 'Dancing With The Stars': Inspired By Split?
Could David Arquette's stint on "Dancing With The Stars" have something to do with his separation from Courteney Cox?
In an interview on Monday night's cast announcement, Arquette seemed to allude to his split with Cox when he told co-host Tom Bergeron that dancing helps keep him grounded.
"I'm really looking for positive things in my life, and dancing really makes me happy," he said. "It really helps ground me and provides grace in my life and those are all things I'm looking for."
Arquette and Cox announced their separation in October 2010 after more than a decade of marriage. They have one daughter, Coco, whom they co-parent.
The couple has been fairly outspoken about their split. One day after the separation announcement, Arquette dished about the couple's nonexistent sex life on the "Howard Stern Show." (He quickly apologized for the over-share). Several months later, Cox spoke with David Letterman about the future of her and Arquette's relationship.
"I don't know what's gonna happen, I really don't," she said. "We're getting along so well that I hate to, like, rock the boat."
Arquette won't be the only star on the show with a rocky relationship history. Two of his competitors, Ricki Lake and Ron Artest, are divorced, and fellow stars Elisabetta Canalis and Kristin Cavallari both recently ended serious relationships; Canalis split from George Clooney in June and Cavallari ended her engagement to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler in July.
