Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants Ratify Labor Contract

Frontier Flight Attendants Ratify Labor Contract

In a rare bit of good news for the struggling airline, Frontier flight attendants have ratified their first contract with the carrier, The Denver Post reports.

The labor agreement with the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, which represents nearly 1,000 flight attendants, aims at cutting costs for the airline, partly through the suspension of a 401 (k) match program through 2015, according to 7News.

CBSDenver reports that Frontier expects the contract to save $16 million in labor costs over a four year period.

Frontier has had a string of difficulties of late, back in June Republic Airways, the majority owner of Frontier Airlines, announced its plans to shrink ownership of the money-losing carrier by the end of 2014, according to The Huffington Post. Republic had bought Frontier out of bankruptcy protection in 2009.

Then in July, Frontier cancelled more than 200 flights after a July 13 hail storm that pummelled Denver and Frontier’s aircraft, damaging 18 of Frontier’s Airbus planes.
