Robert Valderzak Regains Hearing After Earthquake (VIDEO)

Robert Valderzak

While Washington, D.C. reeled from a 5.8 earthquake, Robert Valderzak, 75, reveled in a miracle. He got his hearing back.

Valderzak had lost his hearing after falling on Father's Day, according to My Fox DC, and had been recovering at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Northwest D.C. While seated in his hospital bed on Aug. 23, surrounded by his kids, the family felt the rumblings and then heard Valderzak speak for the first time in months.

"I said, you know, my hearing is back," Valderzak told his family. "I can hear everything,"

One of his doctors told ABC News how the earthquake likely helped cure Valderzak's hearing loss.

"He had conductive hearing loss, caused by fluid in his middle ear, as well as loss due to nerve damage," said Dr. Ross Fletcher, chief of staff at the VA Hospital. "A combination of a drug he was taking and the earthquake event itself likely led to him losing the fluid and gaining back his hearing."

The Daily What offered Valderzak's theory on why his hearing was restored.

"To me, it was a miracle, a blessing from God up above," Valderzak said. "Couldn’t ask for a better day.”

It was a miracle uh? Well I think what happened was - the man just didn't blow his nose hard enough. I do believe in God.

This puts me in mind of the old adage "it's an ill wind that doesn't blow someone good.' Whether it was co-incident, or from the meds, or low frequency shock/sound waves, or shaking, or a combination, I'm glad he has a return of hearing.

Our God is an Awesome God! So happy for this man. I believe in what we perceive as miracles, and that's why I always ask people to pray for one another when crisis hits of any kind. I have seen many people healed of impossible things by faith and grace, and expect to see much more in these days.

Can God repair the National Cathedral which was badly damaged in the earthquake?

I'll go on record here saying that will never happen. Ever. And in your heart you know I'm right.

God never does anything that truly defies all explanation, like growing a severed limb back or repairing a damaged building. Why not? Because that would be a real miracle.

God gives the Human race the knowledge to do more and more. One day we will be able to grow a limb that has been lost to whatever. Our Doctors are doing research in many fields and in the last 40 years have done some amazing things to help us live better. Doctors are doing things now that 100 years ago was just in our imagination.

Yes
I agree.
Why not? Unbelief!
Real miracles happen often. You just would not believe if you saw one. Don't bother asking me to name one, because I could fill up pages and you still wouldn't believe.
Still sad but still your choice.

Glad he got his hearing back no matter what caused it...

That is the most good I ever heard coming out of an earthquake!

No miracle at all, just another of Nature's physical properties. Very Low to Ultra Low frequency soundwaves likely activated previously inactive nerves or connections. This is NOT uncommon.
The animals that were disturbed in the zoos moments before the earthquake were also reacting to the soundwaves that preceded the tremors. Many animals hear frequencies much, MUCH lower and a lot higher, than do humans. Natural phenomena that we humans typically can't recognize without special instrumentation are, in fact, recognized by many nonhuman creatures. Some things WE are better at, and some things the ANIMALS are better at... No mystery at all.

Life itself is a miracle.

thats very sad- im sorry.

Why should he when you don't believe in God? Since you don't believe in God, there is no reason to help her, God helps those who help themselves, you know teach a man to fish....

The poster never said the sister didn't believe. Prayer just does not really work anyway. It is wishful thinking that sometimes comes true just like wishing on a star. How cruel to tell this person such an awful thing! Bigben-I am sorry for the loss of your sister but don't listen to these fools who think belief gives anyone the upper hand over nature. Bad things just happen sometimes and there are no supernatural beings who intervene for people who believe in fairy tales.

What a cruel God who would punish someone because of the unbelief of a relative. That is not a god worthy of worship.

Neither of your sayings are Biblical by the way. The Bible never said that God helps him who helps himself, and it never said "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" In fact jesus did just the opposite when he fed the 5,000 fish and bread. it is the only miracle by jesus that was recorded in all four gospels.

Regardless of what caused it, I'm happy for him. There are strange things that happen every day. If it's a good thing, be happy. Don't try to overanalyze it. Just accept it.
