Justin Long Plays Zooey Deschanel's Love Interest In 'New Girl'; Long Stars In Fox Sitcom

Instead of a sourpuss in a suit, Justin Long will be sharing the screen with a much prettier face.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the beloved Mac spokesperson (and TV and film actor) will be playing Zooey Deschanel's love interest in the upcoming sitcom, "New Girl."

In the series, Deschanel plays an awkward geek, heartbroken over her most recent break up. In order to regain her independence (and her dating life), she moves into a house with three guys (played by Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Damon Wayans, Jr.), who are all committed to the cause.

Harkening back to his romcom performances in "He's Just Not That Into You" and "Going The Distance", Long plays the role of Paul, Deschanel's music instructor-crush.

The actor is the first (but probably not the last) indie cutie to sweep Deschanel off her feet.

Justin Long is NOT what HP refers to as "beloved". He's an absolute nebish who got a lucky (and annoyingly ubiquitous) break, forcing a very-vocal few to embrace him, but the general public to be disgusted by his uninvited, relentless presence into our living rooms.

Don't force me to like him, media. I never will.

like the majority of hipster obsessions, she is way overrated. has this "indie" princess actually ever produced anything truly "independent"? this must be one of the new "indie" fox network sitcoms i've been hearing about. this show sounds horrible.

And Im pretty sure that she's done some major motion pictures and not just indie flicks..whats your point? 'Indie' as a term once used to describe the fact that some bands play for independent labels NOW essentially refers to a genre of music. If you go to Amazon.com for example, you'll notice most 'indie' artists are on major labels.
