Heidi Klum Talks Topless Beaches, Family Vacations (VIDEO)

Heidi Klum is one of those superwomen, a gorgeous working model-slash-TV host who also raises four kids... while jetting all over the world.

But the German model made time to stop by "The Tonight Show" last night to chat with Jay Leno, who asked her about her recent three-month family jaunt across the US and Europe. The Seal-Klum clan hit up Ibiza and the Amalfi Coast, which meant lots of beach-going.

Leno, of course, must whip out some paparazzi pictures of a bikini-clad Klum from her vacay and ask her the random question, "Now how many bathing suits do you bring when you got on a trip?"

Well, Heidi admits, "I bring more bottoms than actually tops and bottoms. I'm surprised you have photos of me wearing the top."

Jay perks up: "You have photos of you without the top?"

"Yeah, I don't really like to wear tops because I hate tan lines!"

See, it's basic practice in Italy, Heidi says -- they don't care if you wear, say, a tiny red Speedo like her husband Seal did nor do they care if you have top on.

"You see, I'm Italian, I don't care if you have your top on either," deadpans Jay.

She's a model. This is what she does.
But, I do not agree with women taking off their tops on beaches. No need. For what reason should a woman feel the need to take off her top where other people, besides her husband, can see her? I mean, we can't even argue a case for modesty, this is just ridiculous. The naked body should never go on display. That's for you, and your spouse, no-one else. It's a bad example for her children, and I hope the more level-headed Seal can talk some sense in to her.

then you should not go to topless or nude beaches.

...and choosing to go to a topless or nude beach has nothing to do with being "level-headed." the needless restrictions you seem to want to place on women are definitely NOT level-headed.

The teen-agers-in-heat this country acts like over a woman's breast is ridiculous.
I remember watching an another American couple we met once while in Mallorca ( the largest of the Ballearic Islands, along with Menorca and Ibiza) and they came to the beach for the first time.
We were meeting my mother-in-law there and 2 other couples, one wife of which was about 8 months pregnant.
Those poor Iowa innocents were shocked to tears to see not one lady there had a top on and yet there was no fuss, no staring--other than them!
It took about 2 days for them to calm down, and for Mrs. whatever-I-forget-her-name to throw her top aside.
Her poor husband never did get over it. Especially after his wanderings took him to where the Swedish Women's Beach Volleyball Team was practicing...sans tops.
I think he might still be sitting there with his jaw in his lap...

Sunbathing or swimming topless is normal all over Europe ... and it's completely natural - nothing to do with sex or exhibitionism.
Come on, grow up, USA. There should be nothing wrong with topless bathing anywhere in the world.

Yes, you are right it's natural. In Europe woman's breasts are not considered like dirty things to hide.It's also the reason you can see so many women not wearing a bra in Europe.
A woman can also breastfeed her baby in a park without to be arrested. I have the feeling Americans are obsessed with sexxxx!!!

What I find funny is the presumption that your set of social mores is somehow more "grown up". Cultures have norms. If you want to go around topless, go to a topless beach. Spitting & belching are perfectly acceptable in China and not acceptable here. Armpit hair is fine in France and not considered attractive here.

Going topless is totally normal for Europeans...In Holland sometimes you see several generations on the beach, from the granny to the grandaugther all topless...and a natural attitude.
