Dick Cheney In Darth Vader Costume On Leno (VIDEO)

Dick Cheney Darth Vader

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 09/03/11 05:59 PM ET Updated: 11/03/11 06:12 AM ET

Dick Cheney, best known as the mastermind behind the recent wave of head explosions, stopped by "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" to promote his new memoirs. While there, he seemed to reference an oft-made comparison -- that the former Vice President is more than a little reminiscent of Darth Vader.

Despite much media backlash against Cheney's book, many have speculated that the book is Cheney's attempt at appearing more human. And ironically, this appearance on Leno's show -- appearing as one of the most famous villains of all time -- is letting us know that Cheney is aware of the jokes, and is willing to make fun of himself, too.

And considering George Lucas' recent penchant for messing with Darth Vader, we hope he doesn't get any ideas.

Cheney has long stated that he is not bothered by the long-running Vader comparisons, recently telling Laura Ingraham that he is "honored" to be compared to the "Star Wars" villain and even dressed up as him for Halloween one year.

This appearance marks Cheney's first appearance on a late night talk show. A study released by The Center for Media and Public Affairs in November 2010 noted that Jay Leno tends to make more jokes at the expense of Democrats and liberals than any other talk show host, making Cheney's choice to appear on the show an apparently safe one.

Check out this clip where one of the most evil men in the universe makes an appearance on "The Tonight Show."

WATCH: Later in the episode, Carrot Top does some comedy with Dick and Jay.

What's so funny about Cheney? He and his business cronies Blackwater and Halliburton ripped off the US easily in Iraq, and then went on to manage the BP oil spill. People are nuts to let this criminal of the highest order walk the streets? Hasn't he gotten enough attention and money out of us? Bastid.

It is Cheney's "handler." I just don't see him poking fun at himself if there were not a short term profit from it!

Leno you have definitely gone to the dark side. Making a joke about Cheney's evilness is not funny. Too many people paid with their lives.

The next Star Wars flick will have Darth Vader removing his disguise to reveal Dick Cheney.....OH, never mind, the truth is out.
Dick, Listen up, okay? You flubbed this life, this incarnation. You can't change other peoples minds about you. You have already impacted this earth with your actions. Forget trying to win others approval now. Let it go. Now is the time for you to look within and remember what it was like before you committed all those acts of grasping. Do something that will truly make you feel good. It will not be anything like your actions of the past and it will not be grandiose acts. It will help to get out into nature more with grandchildren. We don't have any answers for you. You must find them yourself. Look within. Start on some truly good karma, which does not include trying to win people over...because that is for you again and you are continuing to focus on the evil by wallowing in your guilt.

Cheney can try to make light of the way many people see him, but it really does speak volumes about him, especially his reference to making people's heads explode, possibly as an attempt-to-be-humorous nod to his shooting a friend in the face, but also more darkly (or at best just tone deaf) to the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords, and the "targeting" of Democrats by some Republicans and Tea Party members, and to his role in the Iraq war.

Dick Cheney is no Darth Vader. He is more like the Sith Senator Palpatine(sp?) Darth Vader master.
