The West Indian Day Parade, an annual Labor Day tradition in New York City, brings millions of people out in Brooklyn to play mas and to revel. The bacchanal, in its 43rd year, is just one of a host of regular cultural festivals held each summer around the world, from Toronto's Caribana to London's Notting Hill Carnival, the largest street festival in Europe.

Senhoras Do AmazonasThey can't even have a decent parade with the shootings. It's embarassing to see it on the news, so I say, shut the it down!

While the parade itself is just a beautiful thing to witness with all the colors, costumes and dancing, its just a shame that year after year it has to be littered with violence. A few shootings and a couple of stabbings. Despite all of that, it continues to draw people of all races, and ethnicity.
