Police Say 8 Shot At NYC Party; Teen Is Sought

NEW YORK — Police are looking for a teen in connection with a shooting at a New York City party that wounded eight people, including children. One of the victims is in critical condition.

Authorities say a 17-year-old from Mt. Vernon, N.Y., opened fire around 3:40 a.m. Sunday at the party in the Bronx. A 24-year-old man was shot in the chest and hospitalized in critical condition.

The other victims include a 21-year-old man shot in the thigh; a 19-year-old man shot in the buttocks; a 24-year-old man shot in the forearm; a 14-year-old girl shot in the back; a 17-year-old boy shot in the pelvis; an 11-year-old boy shot in the leg, and a 13-year-old girl shot in the thigh. All are in stable condition.

A lot ridiculously racist comments on this thread. Some unrealistic ones, too. Are heroin, meth-head kids from the suburbs going to bed at 8pm? There's enough crime throughout all the communities in this country today for people to stop looking their noses down on anyone. That said, these communities are in serious need of intervention on many levels. The country as a whole does, too.

I don't live too far from this area but far enough to be thankful. When this area was white, specifically Italian and Jewish, these shootings didn't happen. My grandmother lived in the area and had to move out because of the garbage moving in. People didn't allow their CHILDREN to be up at 4am partying along w/the parents. But is the norm in this area. It's been this way for at least 30 years.

Black people just don't know how to act.

It's not about race its about socioeconomics at the turn of the last century the city was filled with ghettos and high crime and guess what it was almost all Italians, Jews, and Irish.

look up your facts... the crime rate was nowherenear what it is today.... yes there was crime at the turn of the century and yes it involved poor immigrants but nothing like this.... WHY are children out in the streets at 4am...there is no good reason for that

Yeah and I have the hood and robe to prove it. You must think that all the whites living on the Upper East Side (in one of the whitest zip codes) aren't racists. And you must think that non-whites aren't racists either. I suppose when a white person speaks some truth we get the "racist label" while everyone else just tiptoes around the issue. Keep tiptoeing. It seems to be working really well.

You don't want to hear the truth bc it hurts. Well I don't see whites in NYC committing nearly the amount of murders blacks are. And I don't see whites committing the amount of shootings that blacks do.

Only in NYC. I don't care about other areas. I live in NYC. This article is about NYC. Other areas are a moot point in my life although I'm sure the comparisons aren't too far off.
