PANAMA CITY -- Authorities in Panama say they have broken up a major cocaine trafficking organization that moved drugs from Colombia to Panama and then north to Mexico and the United States.

Panama's Drug Prosecutor Javier Caraballo says 80 Panamanians and Colombians were arrested Monday in simultaneous raids across the Central American country.

Caraballo says the group moved at least 18 tons of cocaine in the last two years mainly through the Caribbean and was led by alleged Colombian drug trafficker Jorge Indalecio Marmolejo.

Caraballo said Tuesday the group distributed cocaine from gangs linked to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.

Drug gangs are increasingly using Central America to ship drugs and launder money.

the police, border patrol and even the governments drug czars will agree, the drug war is over and the traffickers won. how can they stop something that gets into prisons and if they can't stop the flow of people from mexico, how are they going to stop traffickers using submarines they build them selves and all the other methods they use. give up and save the money for something else.

Good job, that should make the price jump $0 a gram.

Now if it was oil, this kind of disruption would cause the price of gas to spike big time!

Just LEGALIZE it NOW......Are there too many oligarchs making too much money off this and the drug laundering,,,is that why Warren bought into Wells Fargo because of the drug laundering income?

One of my life dreams is to learn permaculture and encourage and teach it in South America to end the communities' dependence on growing coca, and instead grow other beneficial crops. That and legalizing drugs are the only way I see this horror ending.
