Sarah Palin Runs Iowa Half-Marathon Unannounced Over Labor Day Weekend

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 09/06/11 12:07 PM ET Updated: 11/06/11 05:12 AM ET

Sarah Palin ran a half-marathon after giving a speech at a Tea Party rally in Iowa on September 4.

Palin ran unannounced in the "Jump Right in and Run" half-marathon sponsored by Storm Lake Running Club. She registered for the race under her maiden name, Sarah Heath, and listed her hometown as Des Moines.

News of Palin's participation in the race broke after Fox News' Greta Van Susteren posted a photo to her website of a runner she claimed was the former vice presidential candidate.

Hannah Campbell, webmaster of the Storm Lake Running Club, confirmed to the Des Moines Register that the runner was indeed Palin.

“No one in our planning committee knew prior to her half-marathon finish that she was even registered for the race,” said Campbell in an email to the paper.

Palin later confirmed reports that she was in Storm Lake for the race, writing a thank you to the town on her Twitter page.

"Thank you, Storm Lake, Iowa. You put on a great event & we loved meeting some great folks in your beautiful town today!" she wrote.

Palin -- who discussed her passion for running in an interview with Runner's World in August 2009 -- placed second in the 40- to 49-year old age group, finishing the race in 1 hour 46 minutes and 10 seconds.

Is Sarah “the revisionist historian” presidential material? After graduating from Wasilla High School (cited in a Johns Hopkins’ study as a perennial "dropout factory”), Sarah attended 5 no-name colleges in 6 years to finally squeak out a 4 year degree in mass communications (such a rigorous and exacting discipline). You know, the woman finds time to run in a marathon, and it's seen as just another occasion to beat up on her. Get a life, people. Don't you have anything better to do than spew your hate speech against the woman?

Just reviewed the Storm Lake Marathon pics (all 500) and guess what? Not a single photo of the Empress running, standing or talking. How could a photographer missed the Queen?

So this is what "Run Sarah Run" is all about. Kudos on placing second in the 40 - 49 year old class. And thank the goodness for America for your second in the General Election 2008.

if the news cameras are at the back of the rally, which they usually are, where are the other 800 of the supposed 1000 people?
