Climate Change Poses Challenge For Peru (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 09/07/11 05:30 PM ET   Updated: 11/07/11 05:12 AM ET

In Peru, climate change is already a troubling daily reality. Peru’s arid coast depends largely on glacial run-off for its water supply, especially during the long dry season. In the past 30 years, the country has lost 22 percent of its glacier area, according to a recent study by the World Bank. Unless new ways to manage and store water can be found, Peruvians will face severe problems in the coming decades.

Rick Perry says that this is a figment of your imagination. God told him so.

So what's the big deal? The earth's climate has been changing since the earth has had a climate. That does not change because humans have made an appearance on the scene. As for "human-caused" climate change, it's a monstrous fraud.

You may or may not believe this. If you do, please take some time to review some very accessible and comprehensive information about climate science. http://climatecrocks.com/overview/ If you don't believe in science, I suppose it's a waste of your time. Fox News is where you might prefer to get your information, in that case.

Of course I believe in science. I know enough statistics to know darn well that climate models reflect the data that is put into them. There's plenty of evidence that all too many climate "scientists" start with a conclusion, then build a model to support that conclusion. As for Fox News, aren't they the home of all the highest rated news shows? I tend to think there's a lot of wisdom in the people, and I think they know when they're being lied to. Note the ratings of their competition.

It is sad that beautiful countries such as Peru and Norway that rely on glaciers for their agriculture and other aspects of their lives how to deal with their disappearance as time goes on. I have lived in both countries for a several years and I have witness what is happening to those glaciers, they are getting smaller.

There is no such thing as Climate Change to a TPublican. To the rest of the world, it's a big deal. Unfortunately Obama's receint further caving to the TPublicans on environmental issues and his upcoming approval of the Tar Sands pipeline through the US will only make things worse.
