Fox News' Viewers Believe Discrimination Against Whites Is As Big A Problem As Discrimination Against Minorities

Two-thirds of viewers who say Fox News is the news source they trust most believe discrimination against whites is as big a problem as discrimination against minority groups, according to a Brookings/Public Religion Institute poll released Tuesday. The number, 68 percent, is an exact reversal of the percentage of black people in the same poll who say that discrimination against whites is not as big a problem as discrimination against minorities.

The Brookings study uses "reverse discrimination"--an unfortunate term that suggests a difference in kind, not in degree--to describe anti-white discrimination.

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management: “Annual Report to Congress, Federal Equal Opportunity Recruitment Program, Fiscal Year 2000,” released in April 2002.

This report to Congress makes brutally clear that despite the “equal opportunity” name of the program, the purpose of the federal program is to make certain there is no equal opportunity for whites in federal employment.

The report uses tables and bar charts to make unmistakably clear that federal discrimination against whites goes far beyond merely achieving proportional representation for blacks. In all 22 independent federal agencies and in 16 of 17 federal executive departments, blacks are massively over represented.

In the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (sic) blacks comprise 46.4 percent of the employees. The “affirmative action” or racial quota target for proportional representation (percent in Relevant Civilian Labor Force) for the EEOC is 6.4 percent black employees. Blacks are thus over represented in EEOC employment by 625 percent!

When a program reaches 100% of it's goal then acknowledge success and end it. Unfortunately when anyone in the Federal government questions the over representation of Blacks in Federal positions they are shouted down as racist. In reality those that abuse the AA program are the real bigots.

To say that 17.7% is "massive overrrepresentation" is patently not true....and my figures are more recent, and accurately referenced...

To compound your misinformation, you have supplied no reference for your claim that Blacks comprise 46.4% of employees in the EEOC...Are we expected to take your word for it? Methinks not...

Quillerm, I disagree with your assertion that the OPM FEORP annual reports to Congress show that “there is no equal opportunity for whites in federal employment.”

As Mark Twain noted, there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. The OPM link to the FY2000 report you cite was not working when I tried to access the document but I was able to analyze the FY2001, FY2002, and FY2010 reports. All three of the reports show that the percentage of non-Hispanic Whites in the federal workforce (FW) at least match or exceed the number of non-Hispanic Whites in the general US population. To save time, I will limit my analysis to the FY2010 report (http://www.opm.gov/About_OPM/Reports/FEORP/2010/feorp2010.pdf).

The OPM statistics DO indicate that the category “Black or African American” is over-represented in the FW both when compared to the percentage of “Black or African American” individuals in the overall population (http://www.census.gov/prod/cen2010/briefs/c2010br-02.pdf) and in civilian labor force (CLF) and that in certain agencies the over-representation does appear to be significant. However, my analysis leads me to conclude that the broader over-representation is not an indicator of any disadvantage to non-Hispanic Whites; the Black over-representation appears to come at the expense of Hispanics.

Racism is a deeper concept than prejudice, or hate.It has more to do with power and the subtle institutionalization of an ideology into every day practices and routines, in fact, its more pragmatical and "real" than rhetorical ( as a lot of people seems to think) . A fast look at the census, at the distribution of wealth, will give you an rough idea of what racism is.

To Fox News, their supporters, and conservatives, everything that has occurred since the Hoover Administration to make life better for Americans (such as Social Security, health care, civil rights legislation, income tax, voting rights legislation, the EPA, the Department of Education, the end of segregation, Medicare, anti-pollution rules, freedom of choice for abortion, the New Deal, the Great Society, etc.) is wrong.

It happens all of the time and most of it is do to company mandates and affirmative action. A white guy and a black guy both apply for med school. They have the exact same grades and MCAT scores but the black guy gets extra points because of his skin color. Even if he has lower credentials he/she still gets extra points for their skin tone. It is not right yet it goes on everyday.

1. Applications contain more than grades, at least in college applications; don't know about med school. Personal story and how one overcame obstacles also factors-in. Not every school wants the student with the perfect score; they want a well-rounded person — and in med school, you want someone with the potential for good bedside manner.

2. Variety is the spice of life; maybe the med school had enough students with the same point of view and wanted students who think from different perspectives.

When does it equal-out? Psychologists make their money from people with bad childhoods. It depends on the person. But academically, things should even-out at the grad school level, when all have had good, uninterrupted college educations and additional years at an excellent, competent grad school.

That's as long as there are no underhanded attempts at keeping a person down because of accident of birth, which results in withholding knowledge and/or bad feelings that can affect self-esteem and subsequent performance.

But as long as what/how one learned in elementary, middle and high school is influential, then some people are going to need a headstart.

The largest benefactors of the Affirmative Action program today are White females, they are part of the "protected class". I always take note that when some people speak about AA, they never include White women in their wrong rants.They also fail to mention that White America has had centuries of Affirmative Action at the expense of all other Non White citizens. You are right, and wrong. I do believe that the nations demographic shift has scared people. But people have a right to be scared, and people have a right to self determination. Forcing diversity on people, and subsequently forcing taxing, welfare, warfare, et al. is essentially reverse slavery - not reverse racism.

If White people want their own land they should be allowed to have it and yet this is not the case as we see anti-racism is really code word for anti-white. Multiculturalism is white genocide.

Countries need diversity to exist, it's actually the natural state of things. America has always been a diverse country, if you take a look at how divisive religious believes were in Europe in the XVII or XVIII century you will realize how much it resembles today "racial" divisions. Even between Europeans at one point in history it was a very different to be a Polish, Hungarian, Jewish or to be a German, and this differences were perceived as real, culturally this communities were the complete opposites!
There is so much we have gained from the interchange between cultures, one of them is Math for example - the numbers and accounting systems we use today are arab, another good example is philosophy ( I just read an article that described Bruno Latour one of the greatest philosophers living today as the first secular occasionalist,an Islamic philosophy).
In todays world it's also absurd to think that we are very different, If you take a look most Hispanics have had more than 500 years living with Europeans, not isolated but living together, this is the same for tons of other colonies around the globe, how are they different culturally?
