Nancy Upton Fires Back At American Apparel's Plus-Size Model Search (PHOTOS)

Remember that American Apparel's plus-size model contest, the one that called on self-respecting women with "full-sized fannies" to submit their model shots to be voted on with a scale of "Not quite" to "XLent"?

Well, one plus-size woman named Nancy Upton was just as displeased we were. Except she entered the contest and made a Tumblr about it.

Upton went online and submitted herself to American Apparel's contest, writing in her entry, "I'm a size 12. I just can't stop eating."

The accompanying photos, instead of the typical glamour shots submitted by most contestants, depict Nancy in stages of undress covered with and/or eating a variety of food: chicken, ranch dressing, chocolate syrup, pie.

Alarmingly in-your-face, the pics show Nancy unapologetically flaunting her curves while luxuriating in calories.

While a few of the images are on American Apparel's website, most live on her brand-new Tumblr, ExtraWiggleRoom. Nancy tweeted on Monday, "I started a tumblr about how offensive this American Apparel contest is/as an excuse to cover myself in dressing. http://extrawiggleroom.tumblr.com/."

Since then her photos have received over a thousand comments. Some of the negative reactions have compelled Upton to clarify her mission. "It's a dig on American Apparel's current tone and past policy," Upton told us, and certainly "not meant to be offensive towards plus-size women."

But she stands by her clever critique of the retailer and its meat market approach to finding XL models.

This woman is acting soooo natural!.Guys this isn't coincidence. This woman is just navigating through the channel we created for people like herself to put in motion the type of exhibitionism that feeds our society prevalent voyeurism ..The only thing in this case, is that this woman got so confuse in eating this pie, that instead of her putting the pie in her mouth to eat it, she chose to putted somewhere else in her body while she closed her mouth..

OMG....I love these photos. They made me chuckle (and I am laughing with her not at her). Not degrading, but clearly meant as humor. What girl doesn't love chocolate, ranch dressing and pie! She has my vote.

Some women can be so stupid and catty, unless you dress this woman in the morning you do not know what size she is. There could be 2 people who wear the same size but look completely different body wise and weigh a different amount. Why don't you worry about your own bodies, I doubt many of you can say you're models like she can.

Awwww c'mon guys. I think this is extremely creative and the pictures are great, they really are. No one else thought to do this and the message to American Apparel and the contest in question, is quite clear.

Not feeling them. But it has nothing to do with her size either. Just not into this type of artistic expression.

I'm a 10/12 so I doubt she's a size 12...more like an 18 or 20. And there's nothing wrong with that.
