Motorola has given birth to a new smartphone, and its name is Bionic.
A full 9 months after being unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the DROID Bionic, the newest Android phone from Motorola, has been released on Verizon. The 4G LTE device boasts a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 16GB storage with a 16GB removable SD card and a 4.3'' multitouch display screen. It's got a front camera and 8 megapixel rear camera, the ability to be a wireless hotspot for up to 5 devices and the latest build of Android, also known as Gingerbread. The DROID Bionic will cost $299 with a two-year contract from Verizon (fresh off its win as the strongest network in America, according to J.D. Power and Associates).
Motorola, recently bought for $12 billion by Google, had delayed the release of its Bionic cell phone for months and months, which had some convinced it would never hit the market. Originally slated for an early spring release, the Bionic was pushed back to summer and given a total redesign before being pushed back again to September.
