'Contagion' Promoted By Warner Brothers With Living Bacteria Billboard (VIDEO)

Aol

If you've got a weak stomach, you might want to skip this video.

Maybe the movie too, since it's reportedly just a tad bit too real.

As a clever marketing technique, the billboard advertising the film is actually a giant petri dish--painted with penicillin, mold, and other bacteria. After it was left to grow, the bacteria eventually grew to spell Contagion.

Gross? Possibly. Memorable? Definitely.

This is really redefines viral marketing.

For the record, Penicillin is not a Bacteria. Penicillium is the bacteria from which the antibiotic Penicillin is derived but Penicillin is a group of antibiotics, not the actual bacteria.

This is one of the most IRRESPONSIBLE films ever released. EVER. Some things are better left unsaid, and planting a seed for a copycat terrorist to mimic is about as idiotic a thing one can imagine. Young people might think this is cool or WhateverTF but something bad will probably result from this... It's a tragedy and an outright display of stupidity that Hollywood would choose to challenge the terrorists who are STILL determined to kill us. Sacrificing common sense for the almighty dollar. Damn them all for challenging copycats.

Irresponsibility is trying to pretend that this is not a possibility. People should know that things like this could happen and that Government agencies are developing and weaponizing viruses. Don't fool yourself, if something like this ever happens it will most likely not come from a terrorist, but an accident from a government run lab right her in the United States.

seriously you probably have grosser stuff growing in your sinks, fridge, and the half-used jar of ragu that you forgot about in the back of said fridge four months ago. Still may want to avoid licking the poster...

I'm in the medical field and medical research for Bio hazard diseases has ALWAYS fascinated me!. When Outbreak as released I was on the freaking edge of my seat. in the theater, with my mind racing several steps ahead on how to get this virus in check LOL. The whole devastation that the virus did on the body really had me going. My husband had the book HotZone and that hit a little closer to home for me. I lived in the VA area from some years and knowing Ebola Reston (a Bio level 4) was loose..kinda hit a little nerve. Now with this movie Contagion..I'm READY to sink my teeth into my nails and sweat along with the medical folks in the movie. As a young woman in my 20s. I used to say I would LOVE to hold a sample of a Bio level 5 in my hands. DAMN can't believe I ever said that LOL. I guess it was born of my passion and desire to help heal people and eradicate deadly diseases. GO SEE THE MOVIE!!!

It was terrible. Like really really really terrible. Terrible go nowhere plot, very little character development, and almost a complete lack of any sort of climax or suspense. It was awful.

Okay. This idea just made my skin crawl (very uncomfortably) after JUST seeing the advertisement. I am not going to subject myself to an entire hour+ of skin crawling. Not a good ad for a squeamish person like me!

I agree, big deal some mold and bacteria. Probably not a great idea to be growing giant globs of it anywhere, but definitely not nausea inducing. I've seen worse in the subway.

This concept has been done over and over. In my opinion Stephen King's "The Stand" was about the best. C'mon Hollywood, come up with some new ideas instead of churning out the same old tired thing over and over again.

I SO enjoyed Stephen King's The Stand as well ( I pretty much enjoy ALL his work) but the approaches of this movie and King's are vastly different. Also King had the underling "Do you stand for or against God" in his movie. Can't wait to see this movie Contagion.

FYI: They are remaking The Stand!

Really?? now that would be interesting to see. I think Gary Sinese was outstanding in his role as Stu in it. Curious to see who they recast for the role.
