Prabal Gurung Spring 2012: What Would FLOTUS Wear? (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 09/11/11 09:59 AM ET   Updated: 11/09/11 05:12 AM ET

Michelle Obama is one of the biggest names to don Prabal Gurung's designs, putting the Nepalese designer on the map.

From a red draped dress at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in 2010 and a mustard-colored, one-strap gown at the Governors' Dinner this past March to a hot pink sheath worn on "Oprah" and a flowery frock worn at the Smithsonian, the bright designs of Prabal Gurung have gotten plenty of airtime on the back of the First Lady.

So when the designer presented his Spring 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week yesterday, we kept our eyes peeled. Karlie Kloss, Arizona Muse, Lindsey Wixson and more top models all looked fab in the graphic-print, purple and green looks... but which ensemble might Michelle Obama pick next?

Browse several looks from Prabal's color-soaked collection and sound off below!

FLOTUS will wear anything that's free and big enough to cover her south 40.

It would make sense if that material was a black cherry fruit rollup. Might make for an interesting night on the town.

The collection is gorgeous! And the models are just showcasing these pieces! Once the collection actually hits stores they will sell them in many different sizes to fit all kinds of women. So shut. Up u all!

NO!!! All the normal looking women are picking on the skinny model. If you have a curvy figure, it's hard to get cloths that actually fit. Most clothing is designed for stick figures that are almot 6 feet tall.

You would think fashion designers would cater to normal sized women with normal sized models, considering the majority of American women are sized 12 and up. There is no logical reason to design and market fashions that 99% of women can't fit into. The fashion industry is in collaboration with the dieting market to profit from gullible women who want to be "skinny".
Ladies! -- wise up!! If the good Lord gave you a great looking behind, buy a that little dress that hugs those precious, womanly curves

Actually, you need to 'wise up,' or at least educate yourself. When the runway fashions that are chosen by buyers for 'ready to wear,' they will NOT look exactly like they do on the catwalk. Designers do not become wealthy by being short-sighted, and depending only on celebrities to wear their fashions on the red carpet. I watch the fashion shows, then look for the ones I like in the stores the next season. These are called "fashion SHOWS" for a reason...they are entertainment! They are not to be construed as someone making a statement about 'real women's' bodies.

Wow.... I don't know what is more hideous, the horrible looking outfits that are suppose to pass for fashion, or the skin and bones women that are suppose to pass for high class models!!

I think both are just too ugly to look at!!

Wow,I can tell this girl wooed people in this"sexy cutout black dress". That must be why the audience is looking elsewhere...The dress sucks in my opinion.

I am tired of people criticizing fashion and models. I am super skinny and super tall. i have tried to gain weight my whole life but i simply cant. Not all young girls are anexeric just cuz their skinny. ive been told that soo many times. maybe she was born that way.
07:31 PM on 09/11/2011
Hey, I was tall--6 ft--and reaaally skinny when I was a kid...ate huge amounts and never gained weight. But just wait, it'll catch up to ya someday. But these models all look like they've been locked up and fed bread and water. Ick.

Even if you find his designs unattractive, the fact that he is from Nepal has nothing to do with it. Your comment "go back to clothing the Sherpas" is unbelievably offensive and, i dare say, racist.
