Boston Globe:

As one of the 12 members of a congressional “supercommittee” charged with developing a plan by Thanksgiving for cutting $1.5 trillion from the federal budget deficit, Senator John Kerry has the potential to influence huge decisions about the future of social and military spending.

For that reason, he and the other committee members are certain targets for lobbying by all manner of individuals and organizations.

Kerry says he will have none of it.

John Kerry's got good hair. Yet he didn't win for president. Strange.

Probably at home polishing his phony PH's and Silver Star (with "V" device - LOL) that he had himself awarded and threw away while throwing his fellow Vietnam vet's under the bus - before he decided they might be of use...

So basically, John Kerry is saying that he will limit his exposure to these people when he is on the "Super Committee". That means he is admitting that when he isn't on this committee he will go back to business as usual.

Lobbying is the act of attempting to influence decisions made by officials in the government, most often legislators or members of regulatory agencies.

Bribery, a form of corruption, is an act implying money or gift giving that alters the behavior of the recipient.

Add money to lobbying and you have bribery. Why is any of this legal in our country?

I am glad Senator Kerry made this decision and wants all members of the Super Congress to follow his lead. However, politicians avoiding lobbyists should happen on a daily basis and not only when they are in influential positions because they are always influential.

A slight glimmer of hope from an unlikely source. Hopefully this means Kerry will truely be doing what's best for the American people and not acting to futher his political career.

I happen to think he always has been doing what's best for the American people. We need politicians like Perry more than he needs us. He is not looking to further his career. He has arrived.

Perry looks out for his contributors more than any other politician running for President. He is Mr. Kickback.
