The divorced mother of eight responded to her ex, Jon Gosselin, who last week publicly criticized her four-year stint in reality TV saying, "Reality TV is not a career."
"Jon may be accepting of mediocre for his kids, and working a regular job. I want the best for my kids and the best opportunities, not unlike every parent," Kate told 'Today Show' host Matt Lauer. "I think at this point the best opportunity for everyone would be me continuing in TV as a way to provide for my kids."
The couple split in 2009, two years after the premiere of their reality TV blockbuster, "Jon and Kate Plus 8." Despite her ex-husband's desire for their children to remain off-screen, Kate says she would put her kids back on TV if the right opportunity were presented.
