Man Eats Raw Beef Off Walmart Shelves, Faces Felony Charges

Scott Shover, a 53-year-old man in Carlisle, Pennsylvania was caught eating raw meat off a Walmart shelf. He opened packages of raw ground beef and raw stew beef, ate a little beef and then put the packages back on the shelf.

A Walmart employee saw Shover, and a loss prevention officer and a store manager followed Shover outside and pointed him out to a police officer. He was arrested at taser point and charged with retail theft. The total loss of meat was valued at $24.53.

Stranger still is that, from the looks of his photo, Shover doesn't appear to have teeth.

Why do so many of you have a beef with this guy? Okay...so he gummed a little raw meat straight outta the packages. Who among us has not eaten pre-gummed meat before?

Felony charges for $25.00 worth of stuff?? Thats insane. In MI its only a felony if its more than $1000, and in some cases $500.

Raw beef recipes (kibbee, steak tartare), are commonly eaten in many cultures. The only thing really notable about this story is that this man was hungry enough to do this. He looks like a human scarecrow. Shocking in this country of plenty.

I am disturbed that he put the meat back on the shelf. Always check your packages for tampering, people. Maybe he put the stew meat back because he could not chew it!

The incident at McDonalds sounds scary and I work at a mental facility... I've seen scary! But getting punched a McDonalds manager? Over a service dog? Some people really value their position of authority because they know that's as far as they will go.
