Kate Gosselin Apologizes To The 'Mediocre' People: 'Kate Plus 8' Star Defends Herself On Twitter

Kate Gosselin -- when you lashed out at your ex-husband Jon for being "mediocre" on the "Today Show" ( Sept. 12) because he works a "normal" job -- you didn't just insult your ex-husband, you insulted millions of hard-working moms and dads.

"It's a situation where Jon may be accepting of mediocre for his kids and working a regular job," Gosselin told Matt Lauer. "I want the best for my kids and the best opportunities in life... and this has provided that."

Her daytime comments rubbed some people the wrong way, and they took to twitter to address their frustrations. Now Gosselin is responding to some of the comments on her Twitter page, trying to backtrack her original "Today Show" statement -- yet, she only digs herself deeper into the hole.

Somehow, we think this is a situation that #kudos2allhardwrkingparents can't fix. Would a "normal" job really kill you, Kate?

Give me a break. My father (U.S. Air Force) died at the age of 41 and left my 35 year old mother with six kids. The youngest was 5 at the time. She picked herself up, dusted herself off, put herself through NURSING school and got a job to take care of us. She then put ALL SIX of us through college without a penny of financial aid. We have all been to graduate school and medical school and/or law schol. Three are doctors, two are lawyers, and one is a scientist. Though she doesn't have to she STILL works as a nurse at the age of 71. Kate should be ashamed of herself.

Kate can get a regular job she is a nurse for crying out loud many people work with more then eight kids and beside you chose to have them. If you were not so money hungry you could have been set for life. your kids at the very least should be able to attend college.Afterall, they were working when they were babies.

Hey y'all I don't know what I did, but when y'all see it; y'all will know. I posted the "bottom" half over the "top half of my post. I don't know how to undo it and haven't a clue should something like this occur again. Okay, I"m sure there are a few gigling or worse, but I"m askin' can I avoid this happenin' again. I do like nice things, but if I can't afford it'hey I can't afford it. We all want a good life. However one defines it. From all I've seen of the glamour and glitz on T,V,'these are some of the most miserable people in existence. Why? They got everything money can buy. So what's the problem? All that glitters ain't gold, But shucks, I'm gonna do the best I can with what I got (which ain't much). But it's a lot more than some have.

Gee whiz why is everyone ranting and raving? Spewing all this vitriol at a woman they don't even know. Like her or hate her. If all that has been said here is true, she wouldn't care anyway. In the mean time life goes on. Always has always will. I don't think there is a person on this thread , if given the opportunity to have your wildest dreams come true would say I pass. The media has manipulated us to the Nth degree. You can't be "happy" unless you're rich. But if they then turn around and show you people like Jill Zarin, NeNe Leaks, or whatever, well I'd be lyin' if I said I wouldn't want to be in their shoes. Who doesn't want nice things? Who doesn't want exotic vacations? Who doesn't want their children to see the world? I don't know 'bout y'all, but I'd be doin' the bunny hug(an old dance). So once the media get's you a salavatin'? Guess what? Here come the credit card companies. Our friend. You can have whatever you want. Of course it'll cost a little more 'but you're worth it. Anyone other than me ever got behind? If you ain't than the good LORD. 'Cause our friend isn't so friendly when they haven't received a payment. In fact they get down right nasty in some cases.

Has everyone forgotten everything it took to keep this families head above water before they were given a chance to do the TV shows? All the hand outs, free charity, welfare and the many many people it took to just get the babies through the night? Having 6 all at once is very different then one at a time mainly because you have from one to pass on to another. Unlike needing 6 of everything all at once. On one hand no ones seems think it is fair to have to pay taxes to go to this welfare type of handout. And on the other they don't want them to have a TV network foot the bill while the network makes a gold mine off of this family hurting not one of you except for making you jealous. They have had a successful show for many years which means there have been a lot of people watching the show that so many of you claim not to do. And there are a lot of people taking their precious time to making comments of how hateful and cruel you think she is while at the same time doing the same thing. Ah, let the hate and jealousy continue to flow from your mouths it is only proving you are no better then you claim her to be! And by the way she has given back to plenty of charities including the Ronald McDonald house that help her so much!

You know, I've done some work in entertainment. I've worked as a stage DJ, and fronted a couple of bands.

Is it more fun than working at a desk designing brochures? O HAIL YEAH!
Is it realistic to expect to make a living at it? Not hardly.

Well let's just ask this. How did she intend to provide for these 8 kids before her TV program? What difference does it make if she has 8 kids or hard working parents who don't make a fraction of what she made bring home to raise less children? Does she think these people want mediocre for their children or does she think they only want the best for their children? Let me just tell you 1 thing Kate, you and your children have been afforded many "FREE" opportunities me and my children and grandchildren were never given and I certainly don't feel sorry for you and your children that you will no longer get these. She is an egotistical person who only worries about what can you do for her. She is no more worried about what will be best for her children down the line than she is worried about any of the rest of the world. Not enough can be said about how glad people are to finally see her get what is coming to her...THE END OF HER SORRY SHOW AND THE FREE RIDE! It amazes me that she thinks she is entitled because she has 8 children and now she needs all this money to live in the way TLC made her accustomed. How is she going to keep her security employed if she is so broke? She should have thought about how she was going to support 8 kids before they were born..

You're just a bit of sideshow plucked from the streets, paraded around for a while, and discarded. So you'd best brush up on your typing skills, or learn how to say 'Want fries with that?' in Spanish, because your entertainment days are just about over. Your fans, such as they are, will not much like your disdain for the "normal jobs" most of them occupy; particularly if you turn them down when a career in entertainment is not in the cards.

Well, there's always the porn industry. If they want Octomom, they'll probably take you.

This woman has the worste attitude nasty nasty. i cant stand her she had NOTHING and made big Money off her Kids. fine it happens but now to cry about it and say she is not sure what to do when the show ends that she might loose the farm home, HELLO So your saying you spent all that money from 2005 till now 6 years worth. There actually IS something Kate can do to make money without getting a "real" job. She can get Mattel to do a talking (harping), bad dancing Kate doll, which would be really big with adults at Christmas time, for office gags, for jabbing with needles like a voodoo doll, the list is endless! They could also make dolls of all her hapless victims.
