Yesterday, 14-year-old reality television star and model, Kylie Jenner made her catwalk debut walking in Avril Lavigne's show for her clothing line Abbey Dawn.
It was a family affair with sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner sitting front row, but as Hollywood Life reports, the Council of Fashion Designers of America is "extremely upset that Kylie walked in the Abby Dawn show."
The website reports that a Fashion Week insider said officials specifically sent letters to designers, signed by CFDA president Diane Von Furstenberg, urging them not to use models under the age of 16, but can't confirm if anyone on Lavigne's team had received it.
While 14-year-olds are probably the ones buying Abbey Dawn clothing, news of Kylie walking in Lavigne's show was surprising. The CDFA made it loud and clear it did not want underage models participating in Fashion Week, out of concern for young models like 15-year-old Hailey Clauson, who ended up posing suggestively in an Urban Outfitter's T-shirt and 10-year-old French model Thylane LoubryBlondeau, who has often been photographed in a sexualized manner.
